Midnight swimmer, midnight sea
Dark waves silent and still
But treacherous yet
The small figure
Way out to sea
Paddling back
Swimming hard and swimming long
Struggling to shore in the midnight waves
The black waves
Which rise suddenly high to swallow the figure
To swallow the swimmer on the midnight sea
Midnight clouds and midnight sky
The small poor bird
Flying far
Flying high
Flying fast
Flying for life
Flying away from something dark
Flying away from something cruel
Flying away from midnights master
Flying as fast as flight allows
But midnights master flies faster than flight
And catches the bird
Takes it from the sky
To break the bird in the midnight sky
Midnight forest, midnight woods
Running long as he possibly can
A rabbit stares, wild-eyed
Over his shoulder at midnights master
Coming closer, following near
Almost got it
Almost here
The rabbit breaks suddenly away
Faster, faster
Reach the day
In the glow of suns warm light
No power to the Master of Midnight
But the rabbit reaches not the edge of the day
Midnights master comes up first
To reach for the rabbit in the midnight woods
Midnight heavens, midnight stars
Midnight moon glowing clear
Midnight shine, midnight light
But midnights master wants nothing bright
Midnights master comes again
Midnights master returns to midnights den
Midnight moonlight darkened wholly
Midnight starlight, blackened now
Midnights master swallows light
Light-eater is master of midnight
Midnights master kills the Right
To hold the world in eternal night.
