Jim Hart APO Faculty Co-Advisor
Jim is in his eighth year at The
University of Central Florida. He originally hails from Southern California. He
holds a bachelor's degree in Theatre from Whittier College, and a Master of Fine
Arts degree in Lighting Design from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
He has worked seasons as the Technical Director/Resident Lighting Designer for
both The Burt Reynolds Institute, in Tequesta, Florida; and Pirate Playhouse, on
Sanibel Island, Florida. At Flat Rock Playhouse, The State Theatre of North
Carolina, he climbed the rungs from Carpenter to Technical Director to
Production Manager by his fourth season. He began his academic career as an
adjunct professor at Whittier College, Department of Theatre (his alma mater).
While there, he functioned as the Theatre Department's Scenic and Lighting
Designer as well as its Technical Director. Immediately before coming back to
Florida, Jim was at the Porthouse Theater at Kent State University where he
served as the Technical Director. As well as teaching here at UCF, Jim designs
lighting and scenery, heads the Production Department, and is the Program
Coordinator for Stage Management. He is responsible for the execution of all
Scenic, Costume, Lighting, and Sound Designs as well as props acquisition for
all departmental productions. He dedicates all his work this season, as well as
his life, to his beautiful wife, Jennifer. |
