Blessed be the meek For they shall inherit the Earth
The Catholic Page
No, you did not end up on the wrong page...LOL
Once upon a time, I was raised to be a good Catholic girl. Of course, I did fight the system and finally ended up where I am today...stronger and wiser. It took a long time for me to acknowledge that my past contributed to my present...and will continue to contribute to my future. I again have warm feelings remembering my past, and now I embrace them as part of myself. I remember Midnight Mass, Easter Mass and the Stations of the Cross. I remember dusky incense, silver chalices and purple robes. And the singing...heavenly at times and occasionally off key. I still stop to listen to "Ave Maria" and can recite most prayers off the top of my head. This page is my acceptance of my Mother religion...Finally I came full circle...
Let us start with some prayers. Quite a few are short and to the point. The Glory Be tends to start for other following prayers as well as give a quick cleansing for the congregation in Mass:
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
Next we get to the Hail Mary. Catholics do not pray to Mary as a God/dess, she was only human, but she represents the best in all of us. She accepted her God's call and redeemed womankind from the sins of Eve. It is common to have to recite this prayer several times as part of confession:
Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Our Father is another staple of Catholic prayers. It is part of Mass, bedtime prayers, and a simple expression of faith.
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Sign of the Cross starts Mass, prayers, the Rosary...you name it. It is the quinessential expression of what the faith is:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
The following are other common prayers. Some are said in Mass while others are part of private devotions (such as the Rosary)
Act of Contrition
O my God! I am heartily sorry for having offended thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of hell. but most of all because I have offended Thee, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that thou art one God in three Divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I believe that Thy Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou has revealed them, who canst neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.
Act of Hope
O my God, relying on Thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain the pardon of my sins with the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jexux Christ. my Lord and my Redeemer. Amen.
Act of Love
O My God, I love Thee above all things with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and deserving of all my love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee, I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.
Agnus Dei
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, be my sanctification. Body of Christ, be my salvation. Blood of Christ, fill all my veins. Water from Christ;s side, wash out my stains. Passion of Christm my comfort be. O Good Jesus, listen to me. In thy wounds I fain would hide. Never to be parted from Thy side. Guard me should the foe assail me. Call me when my life shall fail me. Bid me come to Thee above, With all Thy Saints to song Thy love, world without end. Amen.
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Benedictus
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Confiteor
I confess to Almighty God, to blessed Mary ever Virgin, to blessed Michael the Archangel, to blessed John the Baptist, to the holy Apostles Peter and Paul and to all the Saints, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, and deed: through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievious fault. Therefore I beseech blessed Mary ever Virgin, blessed Michael the Archangel, blessed John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints, to pray to the Lord our God for me.
Gloria
Glory to God in the highest. And on earth peace to men of good will. We praise You. We bless You. We worship You. We glorify You. We give You thanks for Your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father almightly. Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-begotten Son. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father. You, who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You, who take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. You, who sit at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For You alone are holy. You alone are Lord. You alone, O Jesus Christ, are most high, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Hail, Holy Queen (Salve Regina)
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning amd weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it know that anyone who fled to the protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother or the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy clemency hear and answer them. Amen.
Morning Offering
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer Thee all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins. for the petitions of all our associates, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father, and for the conversion of poor sinners and Russia. I desire to gain all the indulgences attached to my works and prayers this day. Amen.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages;
God of God, light of light, true God of true God; Begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; By Whom all things were made;
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven;
And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary and was made man;
He was crucified also for us; Suffered under Pontius Pilate and was buried;
And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures;
And ascended into Heaven; He sitteth at the right hand of the Father;
And He shall come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead;
And of His kingdom there shall be no end.
And in the Holy Ghost, the Lord the Giver of life,
Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; Who with the Father and the Son together is adored and glorified; Who spoke by the Prophets.
And one, holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.
And I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Prayer to Our Guardian Angel
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here; Ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
Prayer of Saint Francis Truely one of the most beautiful prayers...
"O Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace!
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light, and
Where there is sorrow, joy.
Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand; to be loved
as to love; for it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life."
Now, Catholics love their Holy (or Feast) days. Every saint has one, and sacred happening have days as well. As a general rule, if the priest has a different robe on...it's a holy day.
Now, here are some basic tenets the Church follows:
The Beatitudes
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall possess the land.
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice, for they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

How to Pray the Rosary
Sign of the Cross
On Crucifix pray the Preparatory Prayer
On Crucifix pray the Apostles Creed
On Crucifix pray the Our Father
On first three beads pray one Hail Mary for each bead.
After Hail Mary's pray the Glory Be, Oh, My Jesus and Saint Michael prayers.
Announce intentions for the Rosary.
On large bead announce the first Mystery, then pray the Our Father.
On next ten smaller beads pray the Hail Mary's and meditate on the current Mystery, then pray the Glory Be, Oh, My Jesus and Saint Michael prayers.
Pray the Our Father on the next large bead, then again the ten Hail Mary's and the Glory Be, Oh, My Jesus and Saint Michael prayers after each ten Hail Mary's. Continue in this fashion until all five decades are prayed.
At the end of the last decade pray the Hail, Holy Queen prayer. End with the sign of the Cross.
ROSARY PRAYERS
PREPERATORY PRAYER
O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that, while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
THE APOSTLES CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell: the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
THE OUR FATHER
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen
THE HAIL MARY
Hail, Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amoung women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
GLORY BE
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
OH, MY JESUS
Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Amen.
PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL
Saint Michael the Archangel, protect us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and may thou, oh prince of the heavenly Host, by the devine powers of God, cast into hell satan, and all the other eveil spirits that wander about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
HAIL, HOLY QUEEN
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to Thee do we send up our sighs, mourning, and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet (place right fist over heart on each of these) Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
