Colors
When you were a child, what was the first "spell" you ever learned?? Give up? "Make a wish, and blow out the candles!"
General
Black: banish negativity, absorb negativity. Symbolizes outer space and the Universe. Is the absence of colors. In some cultures-fertility, in others-wisdom. It is not an evil color.
Blue: Healing, peace, psyches, happiness. Color of the element of water. Symbolic of the Ocean, sleep, twilight, and the Sky.
Brown: Animals. Used for spells involving animals, usually in combination with other colors. Represents soil, and to a lesser degree, fertility of the Earth.
Green: Honey, prosperity, employment, fertility, healing growth. Color of the element of Earth and symbolizes our planet's fertility as well as life itself.
Orange: general attraction, energy. Lesser aspect of red.
Pink: love, friendship, compassion, relaxation. Symbolic of gentle emotions and emotional unions. Less intense than red.
Purple: power, healing, severe disease, spirituality, meditation, religion. Symbolized the divine.
Red: maintains health, strength, physical energy, sex, passion, courage, and protection. Widely used in defensive magick. Color of the element of fire. Blood, birth, life and death, volcanoes and intense emotions.
White: protection, purification, and all purposes. Symbolic of the moon, freshness, snows, cold, and potential. Because white contains all colors, it can be used for every magickal purpose.
Yellow: intellect, confidence, divination, communication eloquence, travel, and movement. Color of the element of Air. Symbolizes the Sun, grain, and the power of thought.
Candles
Black: Opens up the deeper levels of the unconscious; use in rituals to induce a deep meditation state, or to banish evil or negativity as in uncrossing rituals. Attracts Saturn energy
Blue: Primary spiritual color. For rituals to obtain wisdom, harmony, Inner Light, or peace. Confers truth and guidance.
Blue (light): Spiritual color. Helpful in devotional or inspirational meditation, brings peace and tranquility to the home. Radiates Aquarius energy. Employ wher4e a situation must me synthesized.
Blue (royal): Promotes laughter and joviality. Color of loyalty. Jupiter energy, or wherever an influence needs to be increased.
Brown: Earthy: balanced color: for rituals of material increase, eliminates indecisiveness; improves power of concentration, study, telepathy, increases financial success; locates objects which have been lost.
Gold: fosters understanding and attracts the powers of cosmic influences: beneficial in rituals intended to bring about fast luck or money, or in rituals needing solar energy.
Green: Promotes prosperity, abundance, fertility, success, stimulates rituals for good luck, money, harmony, and rejuvenation.
Green (dark): Color of ambition, greed, and jealousy: counteracts these influences in ritual.
Green (emerald): Important component in Venusian rituals attracts love, social delights, and fertility.
Grey: Neutral color useful when pondering complex issues during meditation, in magick this color often sparks confusion: it also negates or neutralizes a negative influence.
Indigo: Color of inertia. Stops situations or people: use in rituals that require a deep meditation state, or in rituals that demand Saturn energy.
Magenta: Combination of red and violet oscillates on a high frequency: energized rituals where immediate action and high levels of power or spiritual healing are required.
Orange: Ambition, career matters and the law
Pink: Promotes romance, love, affection, friendship, standard color for rituals to draw affections, a color of femininity, honor, service, brings friendly, lively conversation to the dinner table.
Purple: Power, success, material wealth, idealism, psychic manifestations, ideal for rituals to secure ambitions, independence, financial rewards, or to make contact with the spiritual other world, increases Neptune energy.
Red: Health, energy, sexual potency, passion, love, fertility, strength, courage, will power, increases magnetism in rituals. Draws Aries and Scorpio energy.
Silver: Clairvoyance, inspiration, astral energy, intuition, removes negativity and encourages stability: helps deve4lop psychic abilities: attracts the influences of the Mother Goddess.
White: A balance of all colors: Spiritual enlightenment, cleansing, clairvoyance, healing, truth seeking, peace; rituals involving Lunar energy. May be substituted for any other color candle.
Yellow: Activity, creativity, intellectualism, memory, unity, brings power of concentration, and imagination to a ritual. Used in rituals where you wish to gain another's confidence of persuade someone. Use in rituals that require Solar energy.
