You can only decide how you are going to live. Now."

Disasters for the Right

Not too long ago, Pat Robertson made a prediction that Miami or Florida would be subjected to terrible natural disasters if they continued (Disney!) on their Godless ways. Well...DUH! Telling Florida it will be hit with a horrendous flood or hurricane is like telling California the "Big One" is coming or that Seattle will get a deluge of rain. It is very easy to base horrible damnation predictions on disasters because everybody knows disasters occurs. That's why they are called disasters!! Everyone knows Florida is ground zero for lots of natural disasters. Now the Ultra Right religious fanatics will take credit for them. All this does is terrify the people into following a religion out of fear and not freewill. And if the religion is based on freewill, why do they have to instill terror to keep the followers?

And what about Jerry Falwell? He came out and said he believes the anti-christ is alive and is a Jewish male! This guy must have his own postal people just to bring in the mail his outrageous statements make. Ah well, it's nothing but shock value anyway. If the antichrist were to appear, we wouldn't bother with him unless he created headline news anyway. Something like "antichrist has affair with.." oh wait..that was taken. How about "embezzelment of trustfunds.." no, that was the 80's. hm... So how will we know him? Martin Luther in the 1500's announced "I feel much better knowing that the Pope is the Antichrist". Soooo. Does that mean he already came? Maybe we will get an encore! Nah. Whoops! My soapbox shifted again! So sorry.

Using threats are meaningless. If it becomes necessary to frighten your flock to keep them...then...your religion is already dead and just hasn't stopped twitching yet.
