Sacred Trees
The ancient Druids did not worship trees per say, but they did respect what the trees represented. Each tree had a personality that the Druids would try to emulate or would worship as being an aspect of the Divine. Trees were used as bridges between the spiritual and material planes, and often represented Gods/Goddesses, concepts, letters of the alphabet or the elements. Sacred clearings or groves were used for worship and learning, but no trees were cleared if there was not a natural clearing available. Temples were constucted around the forest with a keen knowledge that one must become one with Nature and must respect the life within.
