Hera
Hera is the daughter of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. She was born on the island of Samos and raised in Arcadia by the Four Seasons. She is the twin of Zeus, who was to become Her husband. After defeating Cronus, Zeus searched for Hera to persuade Her to join with Him. Spurning His love, She was tricked and raped by Him. Shamed into marriage, She then proceeded to harry and harass all His soon to follow lovers.
Hera is one of the Ancient Ones. She originated in the Hellenic peoples before the Greeks, and was the Great Mother. She has been represented as one of the Great Mothers in as many variations as there were Greek states. In Rome, She was adopted as Juno, wife of Jupiter. Her main roles are protector of women, marriage and childbirth; but wives are Her speciality. She has taken a bad rap for Her ruthless actions towards Her husbands' lovers, but that is Her role...protecting the honor of the wife.
Every year Hera bathes in the mystical spring Canathus, renewing Her virginity. Never traveling alone, She is accompanied by Iris, goddess of the Rainbow. Hera can bestow the power of prophecy to Her chosen ones, and protects Her followers with a fierce protectivness.
Hera is portrayed as a mature beautiful woman. She is often wearing a crown and Peplos (Grecian clothing). The peacock and cow are sacred to Her. Her favorite city is Argos, and the cuckoo and pomegranate are Her symbols.
