Ancient History
I am a certified, bonified, should be confined History-O-Holic.
As a military brat I moved often, including changing schools. The first thing I did at any new school was head for the library, the next being reading every mythology and history book I could find and begging the librarian for more. History followed my every waking moment...where did our customs come from, why are the buildings using Greek temple formats, where did our traditions come from? Even now, I reflect on how current trends are nothing more than rewashed ancient ones. I really believe there is much to be learned from our prior fore-fathers, since those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
My tastes have changed over the years, reflecting my growing older and wiser. I read about more eras now and watch more documentories on TV. I still cannot believe that kids sleep through history classes. Those ancient Egyptions; created pink-eye remedies still used today. Greeks? Steam engines and vending machines. Don't let me get started on the Minoans...
Truly history is a very unappreciated area of study.
