Poseidon

Child of Cronus and Rhea, Poseidon is the brother of Zeus, and One of the six original Olympians. After the conquest of Cronus and the Titans; Zeus, Hades and Poseidon drew lots to see who would control what sphere of the world, and Poseidon drew the seas and oceans. An unfaithful lover, He fathered children by many women, Goddesses included, and was rumored to the father of the Naids (goddesses of the ocean). It was He who competed with Athena for the Naming of Athens, and since He never forgot a grudge, became a feared enemy of Greek sailors.

Poseidon is regared as an ancient God, precursor of the Olympians. He was worshiped by Egyptians and peoples of the Cyclidic Islands alike. He is said to have created the horse in order to win Demeter's charms, but came so enraptured by His creation, that He proceeded to forget Her.

Poseidon rides in either a golden chariot pulled by horses or rides the waves in a chariot drawn by dolphins. He is often shown carrying His trident. He is ruler of oceans and seas and as the "Earth Shaker" is regarded as responsible for earthquakes, hurricanes and typhoons.
