Let's face it. It's the small stuff that makes life worth living. I mean, would a great day be worth it if it didn't also include singing birds or kids laughing?
Sunlight reflecting off emerald leaves. Cookies right out of the oven. Fresh coffee beans. Saphire blue skies. Fluffy white clouds. Jays calling. Babies laughing. Crocuses blooming in the snow. Finding wild strawberries in your yard. Pink roses. Purple tulips. Birthday icing. Strawberry pie and vanilla ice cream. Cook outs. Roast beef you can cut with a spoon. Homemade gravy and mashed potatoes. First warm day of spring. Colored eggs. Watching rabbits on the lawn. Whistling your favorite song. Classical music in the background. Purple velvet. A favorite shirt. A clean kitchen. Rolling dough. Eating cookie dough. Remembering listening to the game on the porch with your Grandfather. Watching the wind roll through a large patch of green grass. Pussywillows. Walking on the sand in bare feet. Sparkling quartz catching the sun. Daisys in the meadow. Smelling rosemary. Growing rosemary. Walking on cool grass without shoes. Getting a letter in the mail. Paying all your bills early. Talking with a good friend. Having friends over for dinner. A really great bottle of wine. Christmas trees. Gems. Sleeping in. Puppies. Getting your puppy to sit for the first time. Getting your child to sleep all night. Making your own Yule ornaments. "Sparklies". That hush after the first snow fall. Snowmen. Snow candy. Snowballs. Looking at sunlight reflecting off snow in sparkles of rainbows. Watching your puppy chase snow flakes. Watching the snow fall while inside sipping hot chocolate. Thanksgiving dinner. Smelling the turkey cooking. Having two servings of pumpkin pie. Maybe thirds. With ice cream. Re-reading your favorite book. Uninterupted. Clean sheets. Handmade quilts. Bologna sandwiches and American cheese. Bagels and cream cheese. Making a new dinner from scratch and it tastes fabulous. Polishing wooden furniture. That clean car smell. Sowing seeds. And they grow. Then blossom. Holly and shiny red berries. Sitting under the stars. Naming stars. Finding shapes in clouds. Standing in the rain. Thunderstorms. Watching chain lightning in the clouds while nice and dry inside. The smell of rain hitting hot cement. Watching sailboats on the lake. Being on one of the sailboats on the lake. Watching sunlight reflect off waves. Watching goldfish in a pond. Watching geese fly South for the Winter. Watching geese fly North for the Summer. Dandelions. Buttercups. Butterflies and bumblebees. Blowing the fuzz off dandelions. Smelling honeysuckle. Catching all green lights. Catching all redlights and not caring because your favorite song is on the radio. Rolling down the car window and letting the summer air blow your hair around. Rolling up the window and using the A/C. Going to the library and getting a book. Reading a book at the library. Getting a cup of Latte at your favorite bookstore. Getting your favorite magazine in the mail. Pearls. Silver rings. Silver rings and blue topaz. Drop earings. Cinnamon sticks. Apple juice. Apple trees. Picking your own apples or berries. Pancakes as big as the plate. Going to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Knowing all the words to your favorite song. Coloring inside the lines. Or outside. The smell of a new box of Crayons. Playing with melted wax. Making your own candles. Candles that melt into different colors.
