Plot: This is the story of three generations of racists living and hating in the South today, and the interracial relationship which challenges their prejudice. At the center of the story are Sonny (Ledger) and his father, Hank (Thornton), who both work at the local prison's death row, where an African-American inmate (Combs) is being prepared to die. What no one in the family is prepared for is what happens when Hank falls in love with the widow (Berry) of the executed man... and she doesn't know he was involved with his death, either.
Note: Some sources say that it is Sonny (Ledger) who falls in Love with the Leticia (Berry).

Monster's Ball stars Billy Bob Thornton and Heath Ledger as father and son. Set in the racially tense atmosphere of the South, the story analyzes three generations of people and their racist views. Hank (Thornton) and Sonny (Ledger) work in a local prison. It's business as usual when one of the inmates, who is African-American, is being prepared for execution. When his widow falls in love with Sonny, everybody's idea of racial boundaries and personal prejudices are thrown into upheaval.
