Phew, my first semester of nursing school is over and the second is about to begin. It is difficult, but has been great so far. I was going to put up a picture of myself in my uniform, but it makes my hips look GIGANTIC! Not a flattering outfit to say the least. We had a very nice and relaxing Christmas. Fun time hanging out with the kids. They are growing up so fast, I wish I could make them stop for just a little bit! Since I was a little girl I have made sugar cookies with my mom and grandmother. I have continued the tradition with my own children. This year we did it a little different. The kids had some friends over to make and decorate the cookies. I think I baked at least 5 dozen cookies!! They would do cookies then as they were waiting for me to bake some more, they would go play hide-and-seek or do cheers in the kitchen. We had a great time! A tradition we started a few years ago was decorating a gingerbread house. This year I didn't buy one soon enough and the kids had to make their own using graham crackers. I thought it was going to throw Ethan into a tailspin! It was almost too much for him to bear. He couldn't get it "perfect" and got so angry. Poor thing just can't get over needing everything to be perfect.
Christian has grown overnight, or so it seems! He has grown 1/2 an inch in 3 months! He is wearing a size 12 shoe, how does that happen?! I am doing pictures a bit different this time because I have procrastinated and put off updating my site until right before school starts again. I will try to go in order of the pictures. Christian played football for a bit and wasn't half bad for a first timer. I prefer baseball myself. He is now a teenager (13) and boy will I be glad when this is over! He is a typical teenager, so prayers for Eric and I are appreciated. *wink* Christian killed his first deer in November. Eric is going to kill me for telling the world this, but he has never gotten one and the first time Christian goes out he gets one!! Shhhh, don't tell Eric I told you! They make some jerky out of it which lasted all of about 2 days. The hooves are STILL out on my patio furniture! He says he is going to make a gun rack out of them. I won't hold my breath! Christian wouldn't let me get very many pictures of him, must be the age, but I was able to catch him doing cookies and gingerbread houses.
Ethan is doing very well in school, an A and B student. He gets quite upset when he gets a C. My little perfectionist. Ethan turned 8 in Dec and had a party at Chuck E. Cheese. I LOVE not having to do anything for their party's. Thank goodness Ethan and Makenna are still young enough to be ok with having their party together. He got his afro cut off in December. Eric always likes to make some sort funky hair-do before the good cut is complete. Of course I always have to take pictures! I got one smile out of Ethan during the ordeal with the gingerbread houses! He made me promise next year to buy it early so I can put it together and all he will have to do it decorate! The Falcons are very popular in our house and the boys LOVE their new Vick shirts!
Makenna is turning into such a great girl! She is the perfect mix between a girly girl and a tomboy. She LOVED playing softball, even more than I thought she would. We did have to remind her to play her position and not every position on the field. She is so fast that she can get every on the field before anyone else can get to it. She played pitcher, left wing and first base. She hardly ever hit off the tee and she could wheel around lose bases like a whirlwind! Boy do I LOVE watching her play!!! Makenna is learning how to read! Her first book was Hop on Pop and half way through the book she looked at me and said, "hey, am I reading?" It was priceless!! She is doing so well and loves to read. She turned 6 in November and she and her friends had a wonderful time at her party! Her favorite thing to put on the cookies were sprinkles!! I finally had to tell her that not ALL of the cookies needed an inch of sprinkles on them.
Until spring break, when I can update again, I hope you enjoy my site!
