We all have a secret childhood garden.
I would like to share alittle of mine with you
My garden sprinkled with some laughter, smiles and tears.
Here are some of my memories.
MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD
SINCE MY TWO OLDEST SISTERS WERE 5 AND 6 YRS. OLDER THAN ME. I LOOKED UP TO THEM. WHEN I WAS
NINE OR TEN THEY WERE IN HIGHSCHOOL AND BELONGED TO A SORORITY. I REMEMBER ONE TIME
WHEN THEY HAD A PAJAMA PARTY . IT WAS PROBABLY 1959 OR 60. I WANTED TO BE GROWN UP SO BAD
THEN, I EVEN REMEMBER ONE OF THEIR FRIENDS SHEILA. WHO I TRIED TO MAKE MYSELF LOOK LIKE. BY PUTTING ON MAKEUP. AND I REMEMBER WHEN THEY PUT SCARFS
ON THEIR HEAD WHEN THEY HAD DID
THEIR HAIR WITH CURLERS. I ALSO
REMEMBER ARGUING OVER AMERICAN BANDSTAND OR CARTOONS ON SATURDAY MORNINGS.BOBBIE SOCKS PENNY LOAFERS, MAKING PIZZA FROM A BOX ON A FRIDAY NITE AND WATCHING
TWILIGHT ZONE. PILLOW FIGHTS AND
ME BEING THE YOUNGEST THE ONE WHO WAS
THE SPOILED BRAT.
OF COURSE I
REMEMBER MY ONE SISTER WHO IS
WITH JESUS NOW 3 YRS. OLDER THAN ME IT WAS SIBLING RIVALRY. YOU SEE I SHARED HER BIRTHDATE. WHEN MY MOTHER BROUGHT ME
HOME AFTER SHE TURNED THREE AND MY MOTHER SAID HERE IS YOUR BIRTHDAY PRESENT SHE WAS NOT
AMUSED.
WHEN I WOULD CRY NORMA THE ONE WHO WAS 3 YRS OLDER. TOLD MY AUNT TO PUT THE NEWS ON FOR
ME SO I'D STOP CRYING. BOY NOW
I DON'T MISS THE NEWS.
FOR SOME REASON IT CALMS ME DOWN.
I ALSO REMEMBER LIVING DOWN THE
STREET FROM THE MOVIE THEATER
AND WHEN NORMA AND JANET WENT
TO SEE WEST SIDE STORY.BOY I WAS
ALSO IN LOVE WITH TONY.AND CRIED OVER THE JETS FIGHTING. ALSO WHEN JANET TOOK ME RIGHT
AROUND THE CORNER TO SEE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AND WE WENT TO SEE SANTA CLAUS AND THERE WAS A SANTAS TOYLAND ON THE SECOND FLOOR. (THIS IS JUST A FEW OF THE GOOD TIMES ) MORE TO COME. AS I GO DOWN MEMORY LANE.
I DON'T REMEMBER MY DAD MUCH.
He passed away 2 weeks before Norma and birthday. My mother had us four girls
TO TAKE CARE OF. SHE OWNED A
DRY CLEANING BUSINESS AND APARTMENTS. WE LIVED UPSTAIRS AND I REMEMBER LIVING IN A DOWN
STAIRS APARTMENT AFTER DAD WAS GONE.
JANET MY SISTER THAT IS HELPING ME DO THIS WEBSITE WOULD REMEMBER ALOT MORE BACK THEN
AND DORIS THE OLDEST ONE.
I WAS ALMOST 4 AND NORMA WAS ALMOST 7 WHEN OUR DAD PAST ON TO BE WITH HIS SAVIOR.
HE WAS ONE OF 12 CHILDREN WITH
A DAD WHO WAS A LUTHERN MINISTER.AND VERY STRICT BUT MY DAD WAS ALWAYS ALOT OF
FUN AND LOVED DOING MAGIC TRICKS.
ALL I KNOW IS HE WAS A WONDERFUL MAN. THE ONLY THING I REALLY RECALL WAS ONCE IN HIS DELIVERY
TRUCK DELIVERING DRY CLEANING
I LOCKED HIM OUT OF THE TRUCK.
AND HE KEPT TRYING TO TELL ME
HOW TO UNLOCK THE DOOR.
WINTER TIME WITH MY SISTERS ON DELAWARE AVE.
WE USE TO GO ICE SKATING OUTSIDE DOWN THE STREET IT WAS CALLED IVES POND OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. WE WOULD GO SLEDING WHEN WE HAD ALOT OF SNOW BACK THEN.
IN THE SUMMER THE SONG DANCING IN THE STREETS WAS PLAYING ON THE RADIO AND WE WERE GOING TO
GO TO A STREET DANCE.
BUT NEVER GOT THERE. WE HAD THE
45 RECORDS AND MY SISTERS JANET
AND DORIS SANG RUDOLPH THE REDNOSE REINDEER AND IT WAS RECORDED ON A RECORD.
MY DADS SISTER, AUNT TRACY TAUGHT US PIANO LESSONS AND WE WERE IN ALL HER RECITALS. BOY I
DIDN'T LIKE GETTING MY FINGERNAILS TRIMMED. SHE ALSO PAID FOR ALL OF OUR TUITION FOR
PAROCHIAL SCHOOL. LUTHERAN OF
COUSE. SO MY MOTHER DROVE US FROM ONE CITY TO ANOTHER. TILL WE FINALLY TOOK THE PUBLIC BUS
AND HAD TOKENS TO GET BUS TRANSFERS . I REMEMBER FREEZING MY TUSH OFF WAITING FOR THE
BUS AND SEEMED LIKE A LONG RIDE
HOME FROM SCHOOL. BY THE TIME
I GOT HOME I WOULD EAT ALL OF
MY CANDY BARS I BOUGHT AFTER
SCHOOL WHICH WAS SOMETIMES LUNCH MONEY. 6 CHOCOLATE CANDY BARS FOR A DOLLAR.
These are just a few of my childhood memories.
I hope to have more pages soon,so stop by again and come visit my home on the web.
