Installing a J spec in Leo 93 VR4

This J spec is a 2 bolts main, as you can see the crank angle sensor is not there!

On this picture we ca see the top of the crank angle sensor!

Leo was hopping for 13G’s but no, they are 9b’s, as we can see from this picture! One good thing about the 9b’s, they spin freely and there’s no oil on the compressor side!

As you can see from the pictures, they don’t waist any time taking stuff apart! This transfer case is all aluminum, so the tranny is a 5 speeds.

Here is a picture of the rear Down-pipe (Jspec pre-cat), we can see that there’s no pre-cat and it was made that way. Same thing for the front DP, no oxygen sensor front or rear and no EGR valve on the rear DP. I guess there No anti pollution in Japan!!!

This is the difference between the stock down-pipe and the one from Phantom Roadworks, Leo car was burning lost of oil as you can see.

After starting on Leo car, my alternator went bad on my car, so I had to change my alternator while it was raining.

Look at all the oil, there’s even some in the throttle body!

There I am, getting the motor ready to come out.

Removed the valves cover and plenum to powdercoat them.

The motor is out!.

The old motor is out and now I’m swaping the turbo’s, injectors, …

This is the wiring diagram that Greg Mcintyre came up with, on how to convert from a 92 to 93 C.A.S. or vice versa.

Installing the motor back in wasn’t too hard, though by the end of the night (early morning) we were getting pretty tired.
It was funny to see Leo at work, he’d ask me for an extension with a 12mm socket, I’d hand it to him and he would reply that it was the wrong size.
As I lifted my head to look at what he was doing, I’d see him trying to get the end that goes on the ratchet on to the bolt (what the *%#$@), he did that a few time. The best one was when he tried to get the ratchet handle to go on a bolt! LOL

I also did my mistake, as I pull on the sparkplug wire (new MSD 8.5mm) to get it unplug from the coil it came apart, so I had to fix it witch didn’t help me getting in to bed earlier. Let me say that I’m not to impress with the quality of the wire (MSD), specially considering the price $.
I was also starting to loss patient with Leo (I must be getting old or very tired). Sorry for that Leo!

But all and all it went prety good, I started a 9:00am and we finished at 1:30 am!
New pictures are coming up!
