One of the best Country Music albums of all time! Don't let the unassuming cover art fool you, this is perfection in recording! Each and every track compliments the other from beginning to end. Merle's voice sounds more mature and smooth here than it did only a year before on "Mama Tried". It amazes me that this album didn't spawn at least 3 #1 hits??? Merle's pleading "I Can't Hold Myself In Line", reminiscent of Jimmie Rodgers' slow blues, sparks the longing in each of us to battle our own personal demons. Get this album anyway you can. It's a real treasure! The opinions above are solely those of Sound_man73. If you're like me you'll collect the music either way :) Be sure to check out Merle Haggard's Official Site! |
