9 out of 10 Haggard fans haven't a clue as to which album such classics like "Workin' Man Blues", "Silver Wings" or "Hungry Eyes" originate from. I've never understood why Capitol Records© didn't choose a more appropriate title for this album??? Merle's previous 9 studio albums were named the same as the title track, so one would assume this should/would have been named "Workin' Man Blues"? A Portrait Of Merle Haggard sounds more like the title of a greatest hits album. At any rate, this one is an absolute must have as 6 of the 10 tracks went on to be Haggard classics and 2 #1 hits! The opinions above are solely those of Sound_man73. If you're like me you'll collect the music either way :) Be sure to check out Merle Haggard's Official Site! |
