"Honky Tonkin'" is my least favorite of The Strangers' 'instrumental albums' possibly because not a single track was penned by any of The Strangers. The song "Sit Down And Cry" sung by Bobby Wayne is almost painful to listen to. I hope I don't get hate mail over the next statement, but I'd rather pull my own teeth than to hear a sub-par singer with very limited capabilities try to perform a song out of their range. "Me And Bobby McGee" and "Watchin' Scotty Grow" are butchered here as well. Ouch! But hey, it's still The Strangers. Nichols, Hamlet and Adam are flawless throughout. The opinions above are solely those of Sound_man73. If you're like me you'll collect the music either way :) Be sure to check out Merle Haggard's Official Site! |
