Merle's brilliance as a songwriter explodes into the grooves of existence on "Keep Movin' On". "Keep Movin' On" transitions Merle's voice from smooth to absolute perfection. I would pay to hear him read a phone book in his 1975 voice :) On a more serious note, Haggard's affinity for Dolly Pardon inspired the #1 hit "Always Wanting You". Dolly herself penned "Kentucky Gambler" and Merle took it to #1 as well! In fact this album spawned 3 #1 hits, the above mentioned and the title track "Movin' On". I think each and every track here are worthy of the top spot. The song "Here In Frisco" is a real masterpiece that is rarely heard outside of this recording. "Frisco" is one of the finest examples I've ever heard of a lonely man longing for affection. You can literally hear Merle's plea for attention in this track. This is another album that I say..."get it anyway you can, and enjoy!" The opinions above are solely those of Sound_man73. If you're like me you'll collect the music either way :) Be sure to check out Merle Haggard's Official Site! |
