Merle Haggard Discography Simplified-Top 10 Pick
If you've never heard this recording then you're missing out on an exceptional experience!
Merle & The Strangers were at the top if their game with "Rainbow Stew". Each and every song is superbly mixed which is very difficult to accomplish for a venue as large as Anaheim Stadium in California.
This album also marks the first time we've heard Bonnie Owens on an Merle Haggard record since 1976. Merle certainly had the finest honky tonk band in history and it shows here. Biff Adam's concert tom rolls to Roy Nichols telecaster work to Tiny Moore's seemingly ageless electric mandolin makes this an absolute must have!
There was VHS video released in 1991 entitled "Merle Haggard In Concert" from this historic 1981 show. The video includes performances by Johnny Paycheck and Willie Nelson that were omitted on the album release. I have converted the VHS to DVD for friends and family. Email me if you'd like more info.
