2 Year College Options and Vocational Training

Back to Bill's homepage

Most jobs being created today require advanced training beyond a high school diploma. So even if you are someone who may not envision yourself attending a 4 year college right after high school, it is imperative to look for some kind of training to advance your career (see the College Board's 6 Reasons to Attend a Community College) . Even if you are not sure what you aspire to become, you should be out there looking at programs that interest you. There are still many great jobs out there that do not require a bachelor's degree (4 year school). But you are going to need some kind of formal training in today's job market. And the good news is, most of these programs have financial aid available. So don't feel that these programs are too costly.

Furthermore, if you are still in high school, you have a wealth of information free of charge in your Guidance Department! Once you leave high school, such help is harder to come by. So take advantage of this opportunity while you are in school. Who knows, the more you learn about career paths, the more you may want to look at college options!

You may also want to check out my Military Page, as there are training programs through the armed services that might interest you as well.
