~ A BABY STORY ~

Brody Mitchell Albert was born at the Kingston General Hospital, at 1144 hours on the morning of January 11th 2001, into his parents loving arms. From the moment he was born he mesmerized everyone who set eyes on him, with his infectious smile and boyish charm.

Although his life was short his accomplishments were many. At the tender age of three months, he had already captured an entire communities attention, by winning the Heritage Newspapers Cutest Boy contest for 2001.

Every morning he welcomed us with hugs and offered kisses every night before he went to bed. He was the spitting image of his father but was blessed with the kindness and gentleness of his mother. This made him extra special.

Brody enjoyed life and lived everyday to the fullest. Whether he was out strollercising with his mother, or playing at the park, he ensured he savored every moment of every day. He even graduated from baby swim lessons. It was like he knew he would only be here for a short while, and needed to spread as much love and joy as he could while he was with us.

He was an energetic outgoing little boy who loved his Teddy whom will accompany him on his journey to heaven. He was Barney the Purple Dinosaurs’ biggest fan, and he had not yet been able to give up his souci, but my wife tells me that this was to be his New Years resolution. He treasured visits to his Grandparents houses and they knew he enriched them, as they him, with every visit. He loved the farm and the outdoors; which is why we have chosen to bury him, where his spirit can be free, out in the country.

Brody enjoyed many firsts, such as his first steps, his first words, and his first dance with mom and dad. He will never, however; be able to experience the first day of school, or know what it is like to be loved by a special girl as I am, like his mother.

A soldier has many fears that he must face, the greatest of which is going into battle. A parent has but one great fear, that of burying their child.

That fear became a reality for Julie and I on the morning of December 8th, 2002 at 1144 hours, in the Intensive Care Unit of Kingston General Hospital as Brody died in our arms. This was just 17 days before Christmas and 34 days before celebrating his second birthday. We figure heaven must have been missing an angel and Brody was called home.

He is gone but not forgotten.

All our love Mommy and Daddy XOXO…
