Because they are a couple, silly! ^^; An official too. That's why it is a shame this coupling doesn't get enough support; though most people recognize this pairing, there are only a very few sites and fiction about them in the entire web. I hope this will change, I not only made this site for dedication of them, but in hopes that the popularity of this coupling will increase and maybe a few more sites will be created for them! u.u

Here are my reasons!:

(1) They were official. Yes, I said it again. In the game they are from, there is controversy over who and who's the official couple and many different pairings. The developers may never admit the secrets of the game and who actually the couple was, but one thing's a fact for one pairing, THEY WERE OFFICIAL-- That is, Zack and Aeris .

(2) The bad-boy, biker rebel-type, and pure and innocent, naive girl is very cute and combatible. In Squaresoft's other love themed game [FF8] this type of girl brings out the emotions and feelings of the cold-hearted, "I-don't-care" guy and falls in love with her. She opens him up. Opposites attract! It is not something uncommon to see the success of this type of pairings in other games (the rebel and the princess, the swordsman-well, SOLDIER, and the magic-user, or mage) movies, and stories.

(3) They have simular personalities to a limit. They are both flirts (though Aeris' more subtle). They seem to like to talk a lot. They both seem smart in ways. They both seemed a little "mean" (if that's the word) for their character. They both seemed a little bit immature/shallow or non-serious/interested in a more romantic relationship though they loved each other. They were just a typical, regular couple.

(4) Speaking of love, I believe they loved each other. They dated 7 years ago, hit it off, continued the relationship for more years until something broke it off (the disapearance of the other) 2 years later. When Aeris took in Cloud and followed him (wouldn't leave him alone) because he reminder her so much (physical-wise and character-trait wise) of her first love. Aeris was very curious about Cloud, and his background in SOLIDER. "First-class.. just like him..." while she got close to him and fixed her hair, though she just met him. She even asked him for a date, in exchange for him to protect her. She was attracted to a man who looked and acted almost exactly like the man she loved. Only later on in the journey, on the date in the ride, she tells us just why she likes Cloud (though more importantly hints to the player, that Cloud is putting up this disguise) and becomes interested in him as a friend (though he still attracts her) since he is a different and things (love triangle w/ Tifa) are different.

(5) They would have continued to have a great relationships. With Aeris constantly being stalked and in danger by the Turks, he is the perfect guy to keep her safe and her stalkers at bay.

(6) Cloud keeps reminding her of him, and I know deep inside she starts missing Zack. Sure she is upset, she believes him being a lady's man (in her opinion, HOT) and with his personality, that he found someone else. He ditched her and never came back. He broke her heart, and even Elmyra doesn't want Cloud, around only to protect her daughter's feelings. She doesn't know he died. And when she finds out he's been missing all this time, she is worried about his parents. That itself shows just how much you care for someone, when you care/worry about their parents. Later, she even told Cloud he was her first love. She dismisses her feelings saying he probably found someone new, however love is love. Love is the strongest of feeling, and when you love someone, you love the things about them, their appearance, their walk, their traits, their act/personality, everything, and your heart aches for them. That's why in the end I believe she cared a lot about Cloud and fell for him (love).

(7) They could teach things to other and learned from each other, which is what I believe would happen if Zack was still alive and on the journey, instead of Cloud. They had a past together, and can leave off/continue where they started.

(8) They're SOOO cute together. They make as good as a couple, or even better, than 'Cloud and Tifa'.

(9) They're both together, anyways, right now.. If you FF7 fans know what I mean. It's seems more reasonable/acceptible for them coupling, than the 'Cloud and Aeris' coupling, where one of them is alive, and the other is not, and they will never be together. And if you're unbiased w/ an open-heart, you'd make sense to let the character Cloud make more sense in just being with the girl who cares deeply about him and loves him more than anyone and only cares about him. She could take care of him and we wouldn't have to worry about Cloud, what's best for him now. ;)

(10) Because of Zax's limited background info, you have the advantage of letting your imagination run wild and creating really fun stuff on them then. :P
