Kakanin NO Ryuusei

As the sun was rising over the quaint Haeru a certain young girl was getting ready for the newly awaited day. She had raven black hair that fell down to her hips. Her deep blue kimono was only outshone by her icy deep blue eyes. In her hand was a long brown broom, which was being used to clean the steps of a shrine.

“whew. I finished all the chores before daybreak. Grandpa would be proud.” Said the girl to herself as she cupped her hand over her eyes and looked at the sunrise. “Today is the day for me to continue the 100 year old tradition.” With that the girl ran up the steep stairs up to the shrine. Once at the top she set the broom against a white pillar and stepped towards the shrine within. “I Kakani Seisui am the chosen miko to honor this shrine of the fallen star.”

CRACK. CRACK.

“Huh?! Wha-what’s happening? Am I to late to start the ritual?!” murmured Kakani as she moved away from the shattered shrine. It had cracked from the inside out and was now in a million pieces on the floor around Kakani. “No, I have dishonored Grandpa. I have dishonored my position as a miko. I have set free this spirit!” cried Kakani as she knelt before the pieces of the shattered shrine and trembled with fear of what she had let loose.

“Boo beppin! [pretty girl]” cooed a voice behind the girl and the shattered shrine.

“Nani?” inquired a shocked Kakani as she stood up and twirled around. “Who are you?”

“Hmm,.. well, beppin, I am Ryuusei. The fallen star that you were about to honor, however you are not strong enough to honor this shrine. You are to weak. Tell me, why did you even try, beppin?” answered Ryuusei with a question. His golden eyes piercing through his dark red hair. His strong and lithe build making him look mysterious.

“RETURN!” cried Kakani as she tried to seal away the free spirit with her powers, sending a beam of a light in the shape of a six sided star. Crashing into Ryuusei and exploding in a white flash.

“Tsk, tsk, beppin. Why did you try to seal me away? I don’t like that, beppin… I really don’t.” reprimanded Ryuusei as he inched closer to Kakani unmarred.

“A-ah…” gasped Kakani as the spirit was right in front of her, looking down at her small stature.

“Now, why did you try to honor the shrine with such little power, beppin?” asked the spirit as he leaned in towards Kakani’s face.

“W-well,…I-it’s be-because m-my g-grandpa I-is the only o-other p-person that kn-knew h-how to b-but h-he d-died.” Replied Kakani with a tremble.

“hmm,.. alright then. I will not harm anyone..” remarked the spirit as he leaned back into himself.

“You were going to harm people?! You can’t do that!” spurted Kakani without thinking.

“Well, I wont and that’s what matters. Anyway, I will see you. I want to see how different the world looks now beppin. Buh-bye.” Commented Ryuusei as he started to walk down the stairs. [hey if he flew that would look odd…]

“WAIT! You can’t! No spirit is supposed to be walking around when he or she was once imprisoned within a shrine. A-and as a miko…well, uhm,…would you mind being sealed back away into your cozy little shrine?” asked the desperate miko with a fake smile.

“What? You want me to go back into the ugly shrine? Ha! You’ll have more luck sealing away a dragon! Ha ha! Beppin you are so funny.” Replied Ryuusei with a laugh. There was no way in all the heavens that he would go back into that shrine willingly.

“B-but I can’t, I mean I am supposed to, well,…I just can’t let you go around ruining people’s lives!” blurted Kakani from atop the stairs of the shrine.

“Beppin, are you saying you wont let me go?” asked the spirit with a tint of anger appearing.

“Ah…well,…I am not supposed to…b-but…I…” stammered Kakani, she felt his anger growing and knew that something bad would happen to her if it grew any larger, “ Just don’t hurt anyone or break anything,…please?”

“Hmph. And if I don’t what do you suppose you’ll do?” growled the spirit at the bottom of the stairs.

“Ah…I-i…can’t do anything to stop you I guess…b-but please?” pleaded Kakani. She knew her miko powers were nothing compared to his and he could kill her any minute he wanted to.

“Beppin…watch out behind you.” Warned the spirit as he pointed behind Kakani.

“huh?” breathed Kakani as she turned around to see a giant monster spirit behind her. It was getting ready to send an energy blast at Kakani! “Ah…RETURN TO THE DWELLING YOU WENCE CAME FROM!!” screamed Kakani with all her might, sending a binding spell at the demon spirit. However, it only bound him for two minutes before it broke free.

“Beppin! MOVE!” yelled Ryuusei as the demon spat a fireball at Kakani.

As the fireball’s effect wore down two figures were evident. The little miko’s figure and the fallen star’s image. Ryuusei had leapt for the miko right before she was enveloped in the blaze. He was now cradling her in his arms, safe from the harm of the flames. However, part of the cement were flung upwards with force and one had hit Kakani’s face.

“Are you okay? Does it hurt?” asked a smooth voice. Kakani, opened her eyes and saw two golden ones, warm with kindness.

“Mmm…” breathed Kakani as she closed her eyes and re-opened them to seeing more clearly that the eyes belonged to the spirit that had broken free. “AH! What happened to the monster demon thingy?” cried Kakani as she struggle to get out of Ryuusei’s hold.

“No worries beppin. I sealed it away for you, this one time. You really need more training as a miko. No way you can protect yourself against the others.” Replied Ryuusei as he set Kakani back on the ground. “beppin…do you need help with all these freed souls?”

“huh?” groaned Kakani as her head felt like it was being ripped in two. “OWWW!” cried Kakani as she crouched down towards the ground. “My head hurts…a lot..owwie…OW!”

“Oh.. Ouch. Your head is cut pretty deep…I think you might need a bandage. Here, lemme help you up and we can get it wrapped.”

“MY HEAD IS CUT DEEP?! O_O” gasped Kakani.
