ARCHIVE EDITOR'S NOTE --- Nothing is more important to a stage performer than the reaction of an audience to his-or-her work. Audience feedback is an invaluable tool, even more important than reviews by so-called professional critics. Niki need look no further than to her audience for validation of her outstanding performance in Worm-Hole on her 2002 North American Fringe Festival Tour. Beginning with the show program first distributed at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, audience members had the opportunity to write their comments on the back of the program and turn them in after each performance. The result was extremely gratifying for Niki and we offer a selection of those comments below. Also included are comments submitted by audience members to the CBC Edmonton (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Information Booth at the Edmonton Fringe Festival in Edmonton, Alberta.
Audience Comments From Minneapolis To Vancouver "Brilliant, best of luck for the Edmonton Fringe. I will spread the word!"
"Magnificent! So moving at all levels of being. Thank you."
"Absolutely spellbinding. Excellent physical, acrobatic and moving performance. Keep up the great work - music, lights, everything!"
"I really enjoyed this production. At times, it made me cry, especially in the beginning - her reverence and humility. Then, as she became more real, I laughed out loud. What an arc! Thank you!"
"So glad I came to see this. We will spread the word in Seattle about the show. I'll be thinking about the content of the piece for many days, I'm sure. Very inspiring to create this life and world with so few words. Thanks."
"You kept me with her every step of her transformation. Very encouraging! Have left me with vivid moments and much to think about. Thank you."
"Wonderful! You really occupy the space more and more progressively as the show goes on. I love the build through repetition and the surprise of the boxes' contents as you open them. Thanks for coming all the way from England!"
"Definitely the most amazing and wonderful show I have seen in five years of fringing. The movement and wordless expressions ranged from funny to painful to awe-inspiring. Your life will change. This show is a MUST-SEE!!"
"I'm an English teacher and I can't think of a good word that fits. This is a gem - colour, actions, an all-together piece; clever, but not in the trivial sense - in the releasing, gut-wrenching way of a 'giggle in church' - totally releasing!"
"Five Stars! Amazing! Great movement. Niki McCretton is incredible! The show is a surprise that takes you on an incredible journey! It's a MUST-SEE!"
