The Pemco remote ballasted clamshell shown here is an oddball to me, since I don't recall seeing any on California roads personally, although there might be one out there somewhere in CA. But still it is a neat and intriguing luminaire, and kinda funky. Pemco is a lighting company based in Philadelphia and they are still around but are much smaller now. They offer a reproduction radial wave luminaire (using HPS lamps) tho. Enjoy the photos!
The lamp inside is a 450 watt self ballasted mercury lamp made in Japan, nope it's not the lamp that came with the luminaire...I put it in for show:-) The metal reflector inside is among the crudest designs I have ever seen, complete with the sharp edges! Also note the glass refractor has a distinctively green hue.
You can see the Pemco logo on the glass itself, and that it was made by Corning for Pemco. Cool logo isn't it? Thats the only clue to find out the manfacturer of this luminaire; there is no marking anywhere on the metal portion.
