Arnold Heller

Arnold and Sue Heller have been married for thirty years, 24 of which they've resided in Dunwoody, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. They have a 24 year old son who is in college, preparing for a career as a writer.

After Weequahic, Arnold attended Pace University where he earned a BA in Social Science and an MS of Ed, Social Studies. He continued his studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta and was awarded a Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction. Sue has been a Reading Specialist I English teacher for the past 30 years.

Arnold began his teaching career in Newark's inner city (15th Ave. and Marcus Garvey School, formerly Robert Treat). He has since retired after 30 years of teaching Social Studies in the Atlanta Public Schools, 25 of which had been devoted to North Atlanta High School. Arnold has developed a model global business education program that focuses on entrepreneurship education and e-commerce instruction. In his spare time, Arnold is an active member of the Atlanta Sister Cities Commission and serves as Chair of the Atlanta - Ra'anana (Israel) Sister Cities Committee. He notes that travel is a passion that has led him to 74 countries and involvement in 22 student exchanges between 1995 and 2003 (16 countries).

Arnold has received awards for excellence in social studies instruction and international business education; National Council of Social Studies for Innovation in Instruction, Kezei Koho Center Japan Study Tour, American Council of International Education Teacher Exchange to Kazakhstan, Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, Sister Cities International Youth Development Award.

His post-retirement plans include pursuing his remaining professional ambitions, travel and eventually to write. His wishes for the future include good health for his family, a family and prosperous life for his son, and for him, to live out a few more dreams.
