Frank Conroe

Frank Conroe retired as a Lieutenant Commander having served 20 years on active duty, seeking “experience and adventure” in the US Navy. In 1994, he began his second career in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Charleston, SC. He is currently Chief of Podiatry at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Separated after 30 years of marriage, Frank has 2 children, Sara at University of Southern Florida in St. Pete, and Jason who graduated from The University of Florida in Gainesville. Sara is studying International Business, while Jason, who graduated college with a BS in Recreational Management Degree, has recently decided to go to Nursing School so can earn more$$.

Upon graduating from Weequahic, Dr. Conroe began his path to higher education at Union Jr. College (now Union County College) in Cranford. He earned his Baccalaureate at Wagner College on Staten Island, and, in 1972, after four years at Temple College of Podiatric Medicine in Philly, he was awarded the title of Doctor of Podiatry.

Frank completed a 1-year Residency, married, joined the Navy and has been “bouncing around the US for the past 30 years”.

“My parents worked hard at Alex's Luncheonette on Lyons Avenue to pay for my education,” Frank recalls with respect and admiration. “Those were magical days.”

He enjoys reading and taking Pilates, Yoga, and Tai Chi.. .Frank stays busy with his job and volunteer work as an officer with the Disabled American Veterans Chapter of Gainesville. He is himself a Diabetic and has been for on Insulin for about 20 years, but thankfully, it’s under good control.

He claims he will probably continue working as long as his health holds up.
