The worst day of my life!!!!
At 3 a.m. a
call
from Beth (Zach's mom)
saying Zach was killed by a hit and run
driver.
(We
found out later it was not a hit and run).
She lives two and a
half hours away from the hospital,
we are only ten minutes away.
We
went immeadiately.
It was like a nightmare!
Zach had been to a party across the street from the university
where he was a sophomore majoring in pyschology.
He was crossing the street going back to his
dorm when he was hit by a car and instantly
killed.
Zach was our first grandchild.
He was born one month early and
weighed
only 3 lbs. 14 oz.
All he needed to do was grow, which he did.
In
a matter of two weeks he was able to
come home from the hospital.
Growing up he played football most of his life.
He had so many
friends.
He loved people.
We always thought he picked the right major.
He
had many jobs being a teenager.
He worked in a truck stop, a pizza
stand
at the fair, working in a garden center.
The last job he had
was
working three nights a week telemarketing.
He was good at it
because he liked to talk to people.
At his viewing there were 500 people.
300 at his funeral.
We
never knew young people could cry so.
Our family misses him so very much.
His "pop" and I miss him very
much.
HE was our helper, and when he needed something
done for him when
he was
at school,
he called us because we were so close.
He even stayed
with
us sometimes.
A quote from Helen Keller
"The best and most beautiful things in
the world
cannot be seen or touched.
They must be felt with the heart."
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
we would walk
right
up to Heaven and bring you home again.
We love you Zach.
Gram and Pop
What's Up Gram
I can see your heart still hurts for me,
And that is why I'm stopping by,
Each time you shed a tear for me,
It is with tears I also cry.
When I left and walked through Heavens gate,
Only then did I realize,
That the angels who surrounded me,
Were my friends in a perfect disguise!
To try and describe being home with God,
Is something I cannot do,
For there are no words that exist on earth,
That could paint a picture for you.
My thoughts do not stray from memories shared,
As I live them each glorious day,
The cookies you baked for Dawn and I,
We always enjoyed our stay.
Did you know I can play football in Heaven,
And listen to the music of Creed,
I spend hours talking with Jesus,
He has fulfilled my every need.
You see Gram and Pop how happy I am,
No tears of sorrow, heartache or pain,
There is nothing in Heaven I long for,
Except being with you all again.
On the day all my friends had bid me farewell,
And I heard the tears fall that they cried,
If only they had known where my journey would end,
And that only my body had died.
Remember how I always called on you,
Whenever I needed things done,
This is what you can do for me now,
Don't weep.... God's will has be done.

Native American Prayer
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn Rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone
I am with you still in each new dawn

You bade no one a last farewell,
We never said good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.
Many a lonely heartache,
Often a silent tear
To a beautiful memory,
Of the one we loved so dear.
Your memory is a keepsake,
With that we'll never part.
God has you in his safe keeping,
We have you in our hearts.
