Defending Your Life with Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks The front cover says this is the first true story of what happens when you die. There is a billboard for Judgment City, just minutes away. There is a subtitle "Turn Left Onto the Past Lives Parkway"
"After a head-on automobile crash with a bus, the male character wakes up deceased and his troubles are just beginning. Brooks wrote and directed this film which is a witty peek at the affterlife wherein you can eat all you want, for example, and not gain weight. There's a catch however and that requires you are saddled with defending your life. If you can't make a case for having lived a full and fearless life, you have to return to earth and try again. Once he meets Streep's character, he is determined not to return to earth again."
Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie Beatty's character, who plays quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, is accidentally summoned to Heaven by an overly zealous celestial escort. He returns to earth with the escort in search of another body so he can continue playing football. During this time, he romances Christie's character who protests the destruction caused to her English village by one of the business man's corporations as he has to live in the body and circumstances of the man whose body he is now using.

Ghost with Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. This Academy (2 such) Award winning romantic comedy/thriller film is about a young man who is murdered and his interactions just before and after the act with his wife and at work. Whoopi plays a psychic medium (such as you see on TV in shows such as as the broadcasts by John Edward on cable TV. Whoopi is truly gifted and the comedy element is well provided by her as she grows into the role from ordinary psychic to a medium channelling Swayze's character as he protects his girlfriend from a similar fate where greed plays a role.
A must-see film covering a wide-range of human emotion. Remember, this #1 film was in the theaters in 1990, long before the topic became more commonly accepted of communication from the "other side of the veil".
