Junior Mike Maerzluft keeps improving each game and tonight he had his best game of his high school career so far. Maerzluft had a double double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.Senior Mike Petersen playing despite illness was still able to come up with his second double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Seniors Billy Hague and Zach Howard each got 10 points. Junior Jonny Barton got 6 rebounds but his shot seemed to have escaped him.
But the Patriot bench was basically nonexistent this evening, scoring only one point. It was the bench's worst game of the season. Turnovers again exceeded assists. And although HCS made a strong offensive run in the fourth quarter, defensively they could not come up with the stops to allow them to get back into the game. HCS went 1 for 16 from the three-point line. HCS did not have any three-point shooting this game.
So now HCS is 4-3 and will play for third place on Saturday against Div IIAA school, Littlerock at 11:30 am
