Celeborn let
loose another arrow, trying to shut the pain out of his mind. He could barely shoot straight with it
bearing down upon him like a Balrog. He
would feel the same in her position, but he wished it would stop. He needed to concentrate, for it may cost him
his life.
Haldir of
Lórien sensed worry and saddens before he heard crying. Concerned, he went to investigate.
"My Lady ..." he said surprised, to
see Galadriel sitting on her bed in tears.
She looked up
at him her usually pale smooth face red and wet with tears.
"I fear so for my Lord..."
"With all due respect, My Lady, Lord
Celeborn has fought in many a battle and most of them come away
unscathed."
She
nodded.
"Have you consulted your mirror?"
"All I saw was blood, death and
pain..."
Haldir became
concerned. "Did you see Lord
Celeborn fall?"
She shook her
head. "I saw many fall. I could not tell..."
Galadriel
sighed heavily.
"I will fetch you some water,"
Haldir said, turning.
"Please do not leave me, Haldir. Please stay with me this night..."
Haldir became
uncomfortable, but he wanted to help his lady and alleviate her sadness, but he
was not sure what he could do.
"Let me get you some water," he
said, nervously.
"I have water ... Haldir ... Please do
not go..."
Lady Galadriel
indicated for him to sit on the bed with her.
Haldir did so. The Lady of Lórien
leaned over and kissed him.
"Thank you, Haldir."
And she held
him.
"My Lady ... I must protest ... Lord
Celeborn ..."
"I know ... But I need you now, Haldir
... I worry so for my Lord, but I need you..."
Haldir saw the
pain in her eyes and nodded. "All
right, My Lady, but I do this for you, not for myself."
"Do you not desire me?"
Again Haldir
looked into her eyes. "Your beauty
is beyond words, My Lady, even in Elvish, but it is your soul I love."
Galadriel
embraced him. "Thank you."
Upon the
Hornburg, Celeborn sighed. The pain had
subsided, and he sensed why. He was too
wrapped up in the battle to feel anger.
The people of Rohan were his prime concern now.
Haldir held
the Lady of Light in his arms and caressed her.
He hoped she did not ask for more.
Gently his hands explored her exquisite physique, and ran his hands
through her golden silken hair. Even so tenderly, he rounded his hands around
her delicate breasts and she sighed.
Celeborn awing
his sword into a large Uruk-Hai feeling a surge of anger, though he was
grateful he could concentrate on the task at hand.
Galadriel held
Haldir in her arms, caressing him, holding him, combing her hands through his
long golden silver hair.
"Thank you, Haldir."
"It is my
pleasure, My Lady," though he still felt guilty, that he was betraying his
Lord and Haldir made up his mind to tell Celeborn, knowing full well it may
mean his forever banishment from the Golden Wood of Lothlórien.
"Celeborn! To the Keep!
To the Keep!" Aragorn yelled, after part of the Hornburg exploded.
The Lord of
Lórien looked around. "Dartho!
His hand was sliced
open by a loathsome Orc. Celeborn winced
with pain. A large Uruk-Hai bore down
upon him. At the last moment, the
Elegant Elf Lord swung Excalibrand, his sword, beheading the hideous foe as he
left for the keep with his brethren.
Galadriel
gasped, then relaxed. "All is
well..." She closed her eyes.
"Again, I thank you, Haldir."
He smiled
warmly as he held his Lady in his arms.
Celeborn
returned from the battle, his wound healing.
Haldir met him in his chambers.
"My Lord, there is something I need to
discuss with you."
The Lord of
Lórien turned, surprised. Haldir was
going to confess, he sensed. The middle
Galadhrim was usually the most secretive and mysterious.
"Yes, Haldir?" Celeborn played dumb.
The younger Elf took a deep breath. "When you went to battle at Helm's Deep,
Lady Galadriel was forlorn. She saw much
death, blood and pain in her mirror."
"Aye. I sensed it as well."
Haldir
swallowed. "My Lord ... " The
Galadhrim took a breath. "While you
battled, Lady Galadriel and I ... were intimate ... Though it was not my wish or my desire ...
The Lady of Light needed comfort and I did not want to leave her in such a
forlorn state. She asked me to stay
... And I felt I had to, but we did nay
copulate, My Lord."
Celeborn
remained silent, and calm.
Uncomfortable,
Haldir continued. "My Lord, if you
must reprimand and banish someone over this, please just banish me, not my
brothers, they know not of this and it is not their doing."
"Did you enjoy it?"
Celeborn's
question threw Haldir for a moment. The
Lord of Lórien repeated it.
"As I told Lady Galadriel, her beauty is
legendary, but it is her Soul that I love.
I did what I did for her to help her, but if truth must be known my
thoughts were upon you. I feel I have
betrayed you, My Lord, but I could not leave Lady Galadriel alone."
Celeborn
paused for a long while, leaving Haldir with his stomach in knots.
"I will banish and reprimand no
one."
"My Lord?"
"You did nay force yourself upon My
Lady, when she was in such a weak state," Celeborn said. "If you had I would have done more than
juts banish you. You did nay take
perverse pleasure in what you did. You
tell me you wanted to help her, and I believe you. I sensed her pain, Haldir, and it almost
killed me. I could barely concentrate on
the battle at hand. In future when I go
forth into to battle, I want you, Haldir, to comfort my Lady."
"My Lord?"
"She feels at ease with you and she
trusts you, as do I. You did nay betray
me, Haldir O Lórien, I thank you for taking care of my Lady."
Haldir stared
at Celeborn, then smiled. "Thank
you, My Lord. You have my solemn promise
I will take care of her when next you fight."
Celeborn held
his lady love.
"I am relieved you have returned. Please do not be angry at my weakness..."
"Nay, My Lady. You needed him and I needed you to be calm
and safe and you were in his arms. I
begrudge neither of you for that."
"Thank you, My Lord."
Gently, he
kissed her, then he picked her up and carried her off and they both laughed, a
gentle, merry sound.
