KNIGHT RIDER
KITT'S CRADLE
The FLAG HQ seemed deserted. Michael was off on yet another date and had asked not to be disturbed, unless of course in the case of an emergency and of course he hoped and prayed one didn't happen.
Devon had flown down to FLAG in Sydney, Australia, for the week, helping to fine tune the organisation and working on a Knight Industries 2001 for the Australian branch.
Bonnie had also gone out on a date with George, a man she had met at a singles bar and KITT was happy for her. She'd seemed lonely these past few months and her recent ordeals had taken their tolls ... Unfortunately FLAG could not afford her a vacation.
KITT sat alone in the headquarters, spending his time running systems checks, self diagnostics and repairing some anomalies, which, thanks to Michael had occurred during their last mission, throwing KITT's fine tuned sensors slightly off kilter. Bonnie could easily fix them, but KITT's auto-repair cycle could as well and the Trans-Am didn't want to bother her.
A soft sound caught his attention. KITT stopped all his functions and listened. Someone was crying. With a shock, he recognised the sound's owner. "Bonnie?"
A gasp, then the sobbing stopped.
"Bonnie, are you all right?"
The FLAG engineer stepped out of the small room, touched by KITT's concern.
"What's the matter?" he asked gently, having a fair idea.
"I suppose I can't hide anything from you, Kitt," Bonnie said with a sniff.
"If you don't want to talk about it, that's okay, if you do, then I'm right here."
"Thanks, Kitt ... I think I do need to talk..."
KITT opened his door. Bonnie smiled as she climbed inside him.
She gently touched KITT's wheel. "Thanks for listening."
"You haven't told me anything yet."
Bonnie smiled. "I don't know where to start ...."
"Is it ... about that George fellow?" KITT prompted, then before Bonnie could respond, he continued, "if he's gonna stand you up, he's not worth getting upset about."
"It's not just that ..." Bonnie bit back tears.
"Ahh, the last straw?"
She nodded. "That about sums it up."
"I've noticed you've not been looking well lately," KITT said. "I've been meaning to talk to you about it, but you beat me to it."
"Thanks, Kitt."
The Pontiac appeared to smile.
"When I left FLAG, a year ago, it seemed the right thing to do at the time... Though I missed my work here, I missed Michael, Devon, and you most of all." She gently rubbed KITT's wheel.
"And we missed you, Bonnie."
The technician smiled. "I'm glad I came back, though I did feel I had to study ... My Professor was so good to me ... I looked up to him and respected him..."
"And he betrayed you."
Bonnie nodded, wincing, unable to stop tears escaping. "It was like having my soul ripped out and stomped on..."
"I'm sorry..." KITT wished he could comfort her, but didn't know how, though he desperately wanted to help his friend. "But it didn't end there, did it?"
Bonnie shook her head, tears making their way down her cheeks. "All that shit with my new apartment ... Even though the mystery was solved ... It's still so vivid ... The dead woman in my bathtub .... I know it was just a hologram, but ... every time I bathe ... When I lie alone at night ... I thought I'd make some friends, but I just didn't seem to fit in..."
"I know how you feel, Bonnie, alienated..."
The dark haired Technician smiled sadly and stroked KITT's wheel. "My new place doesn't quite feel like home yet, boxes everywhere ... I'm not too familiar with the place yet, where to put everything."
"You'll get there," KITT assured. "From what I gather, moving's a pain, but you do get rid of a lot of old junk."
Bonnie smiled. "Tell me about it. Thanks for trying to cheer me, up, Kitt. I think it worked."
"That was the plan. Perhaps you can try and dump your emotional baggage too."
Bonnie looked impressed. "Kitt, you'd make a wonderful counsellor."
The car appeared to smile. "Always happy to help a friend."
Bonnie leaned forward and kissed his steering wheel. "Thanks, Kitt."
A long pause followed.
Bonnie took a deep breath. "It seems when I'm getting my life in order, it gets ripped out from under me ... George seemed so nice ..."
"Some guys do. He doesn't deserve you, Bonnie. He obviously doesn't know how to appreciate what he's missing. Don't let him win over you. He's not worth it."
Bonnie managed a smile. "Thanks, Kitt."
"I do understand how hard it is," the Trans-Am said, his voice gentle. "Being let down is never an easy thing to deal with ... Being lonely isn't either. Being one of a kind ... sometimes I ..."
"Ohh, Kitt ..." Bonnie rubbed his dash gently.
"There's you, Michael and Devon, though being unique isn't all it's cracked up to be ... Sometimes I wish there was another like me, who didn't want to kill me like KARR."
"I wish there had been another way," Bonnie said, "but KARR was just too hateful."
"In some ways I can't blame him," KITT said, "but I too wish we could have been friends ... Perhaps someday we can rebuild him, if that's possible."
"Perhaps," Bonnie said.
"Now, Missy," KITT said, mock strict, after a pause, "you're not going to brood over that scummy George. He's not worth suffering over."
Bonnie smiled and saluted. "Yes, Sir!"
KITT seemed to smile back at her.
"Thanks, KITT, you can always make me smile."
"I do try."
Bonnie patted his wheel. "Let's take a look at your engine, shall we?"
"You don't have to," KITT said. "Take time for yourself, have a hot bath and relax."
Bonnie smiled. "I'd like to look you over KITT."
"In that case, be my guest..." He opened his door and unhinged his hood for her.
Bonnie climbed out of him and inspected the inner workings of his engine.
"What's the prognosis, Doctor?"
"KITT, you're fit as a fiddle," Bonnie chuckled as she reached inside his engine, her elegant, delicate fingers making her way through KITT's intricate systems, she felt a slight shiver.
"KITT, you all right?"
"Yes, Bonnie."
"Michael wasn't too rough with you on his last mission, was he? Displace any of your circuits?"
"Uhh ... no, nothing I can't handle. I ran a self diagnostic, but I'm ... fine."
Bonnie continued, without realising it, began massaging KITT's conduits. Her touch began to relax the black Pontiac, as her hands, with minds of their own, reached deeper inside him, soothing his circuits. Slowly moving upwards, gently clasping a cylinder. Subconsciously, KITT sent a soft electric current into Bonnie's hands, stimulating, at the same time, soothing her nerves. Suddenly KITT stopped. Bonnie too felt a little uncomfortable. After a beat she reached inside KITT again, continuing to caress his circuitry.
"That feels nice." KITT's voice, softer than usual.
"Working on you is quite therapeutic."
The car appeared to smile as he sent another gentle current into her body. Bonnie closed her eyes, feeling her nerves that had been crying out for attention, as she began to caress KITT's hydrogen carburettor. The car almost gasped, never having felt anything quite like this before. Every wisp of her hands, exquisite, delicate. He'd felt them many times when she worked on him, but she'd never quite touched him like this. The Technician began to caress deeper into KITT's warm engine. The Trans-Am sighed softly, beginning to understand the pleasures of intimacy. He mixed his energies, gently surrounding Bonnie's hands.
She smiled. "That's lovely, Kitt."
"I'm glad," his voice, barely a whisper.
He increased the charge a little, careful not to hurt her.
"Ohh ... I never knew you could do that ..."
He seemed to smile. "It's a hidden talent."
Bonnie began to caress his liquid hydrogen processor. KITT gasped softly at the sensation, the Technician's hands, stimulating like magic at they traversed his warm fuel injector, like liquid silk. KITT let some air from his tyres and relaxed to Bonnie's touch.
In silence, her hands ventured deeper inside, knowing just where they were needed.
"Bonnie, you're an Angel."
"Thanks, Kitt," she said warmly. "That means a lot. I'm glad you're here."
"I'm always here for you, Bonnie."
A tear rolled down her pale cheek, landing on KITT's engine, slowly evaporating against the warmth. He relaxed even more to Bonnie's touch. He wanted to give her something in return. She really, really needed someone right now, although KITT felt a tad uncomfortable. What if Michael or Devon found out about this? But then how could they? He loved and respected them both, but suffice it to say this wasn't any of their business. It would be he and Bonnie's deepest secret.
As Bonnie reached into him, he hadn't realised how much he loved her. For all the times she'd repaired and cared for him, for all the times she'd fussed about him, he felt he owed her and wanted to be here for her. He altered his energy charge, starting on her fingers, causing the elegant shards to tingle slightly, then encompassing her hands. Bonnie took in a silent breath at the pleasant sensation, as she stroked his grille and traced her fingers over his front redlight scanner, tracing the light back and forth. KITT closed his optical sensors and became lost in Bonnie's gentle, enchanting touch. The Technician too, closed her eyes, continuing to massage him, touching him in ways she never had before. She ran her hand under his entire hood area, her soft touch stimulating his senses, the Pontiac venturing a little further, his energy flow traversing Bonnie's arms, caressing her shoulders, neck and face. She gasped softly, her head arching back. "That feels lovely, KITT..."
"I'm glad," he whispered back.
Again, she reached inside him, massaging his carburettor, her fingers feeling as though they were part of him, caressing every curve, every manifold. KITT had never felt this loved as Bonnie ran her hand over the warm exterior of his carburettor.
"That's lovely," he said quietly. "I only wish ..." He stopped.
"What?" Bonnie prompted gently.
"... That ... that I could touch you the same way..."
Bonnie smiled warmly. "KITT, you already have touched me, in so many ways..."
The sleek car seemed to smile as he released another gentle charge. Bonnie closed her eyes, feeling the warm energy, traverse her arms, surround her body, her knee high white dress feeling like second skin, as KITT's energies mixed with the soft material, lightly touching her face, gently combing through her hair, soothing her troubled head, calming her as she stood, caressing him, the Trans-Am's gentle charge, spreading to her chest and midsection, traversing her legs encompassing her, Bonnie feeling safe in KITT's protective energies, caressing every cell in her body, giving her the tender loving care she so badly needed, tensions of the past few months releasing in KITT's embrace. Bonnie tilted her head back, immersing in his warmth, like a stimulating, yet relaxing bubblebath. She let her whole begin to relax as she never had before, becoming more alive with every stroke of KITT's loving energies as she touched his inner systems lightly, causing the Pontiac to shiver slightly.
Bonnie became glad that George had stood her up, if he hadn't, she may have never known KITT this way, never be touched by him, never felt his energy caress her, as if it were his own two hands, and never have touched him the way she had now as she caressed his hood, its shining dark surface smooth against her pale hands, KITT's optical sensors still closed, feeling as though he had died and found Avalon.
The car opened his door. Bonnie smiled warmly as she climbed inside, still feeling the effects of his vibrant energies.
Inside him, she began to caress his wheel lightly. Soon after, KITT felt Bonnie's delicate fingers dance over his dash as she leaned forward and kissed his voice box.
He seemed to smile. "I only wish I could kiss you back," he said, quietly.
Bonnie's smiled was warm. "You don't need to," she said, her voice fort, her touch softer, as she traced her fingers to the lights on his voice box, in rhythm. KITT sighed inwardly, as he slowly turned on his air-con, a subtle breeze on Bonnie's body. The human closed her eyes, revelling in the gentle sensation, stroking her hand lightly over KITT's dash, then underneath it and reached inside him, caressing his delicate inner circuits to which KITT responded in kind again stimulating her with gentle mixed energies, enveloping her like a warm ocean. He began to concentrate the energy on Bonnie's face and neck, stimulating the delicate nerves, brushing the energy through Bonnie's long, silky hair. She arched her neck back, immersing herself in relaxing pleasure, feeling safer than she ever had before.
Reaching under his dash, she gently fiddled with his circuitry.
"That tickles..." KITT chuckled.
Bonnie smiled as she continued ...
"There," she whispered, turning a small red knob and configuring a new setting on KITT's access pad.
Instantly, the Trans-Am felt energies flow through him, gentle at first, then gaining more vigour as they washed through him, caressing every component, every circuit as it coursed through him. In kind, he centred his own energies, caressing Bonnie, her form glowing, she looked like an angel from the Heavens and that she was, KITT surmised. The human closed her eyes, feeling the light fabric of her dress against her skin, as KITT's energies flowed through her, stimulating every cell in her body, even her hair, as it gently made its way through every strand, making her feel like a delicate fairy. She felt in a trance, caressing KITT's dash once more, the energy flowing through him becoming more vibrant, coursing through him, his engine, drive shaft, fuel tanks, his underbody, atop his roof, stimulating every molecule. He in took some oxygen as the energy continued to caress him, every piston and
fly wheels, his suspension, distributors, his retro sparkplugs. His accelerators had never been so stimulated and his shock absorbers were having the time of their lives. His special systems tingled, the internal and external. He resisted the urge to Turbo Boost... By the makers, he had never felt so wonderful... so alive, before the flow slowly began to ebb.
"Ohh Bonnie, I finally know what a steaming hot bubble bath is like ... and more."
She laughed, a sweet delicate sound as she gently hugged his wheel. "My pleasure, KITT."
The Pontiac controlled the door to the FLAG HQ to open.
"Shall we, M'Lady?"
Bonnie smiled. "Of course, kind Sir."
"They'll never know we were gone," KITT said with a hint of mischief.
"They'll never catch us," Bonnie said with a smile. "The notorious Bonnie and KITT!"
The Pontiac chuckled as she kissed his dash as the sleek black Trans-Am sped off into the night, along deserted back roads.
They stopped in an open field. Bonnie gently began to stroke KITT's dash as though it were a soft kitten, smiling at his hood capturing the twinkling star light so beautifully.
"The stars shine in your eyes, Bonnie," he said, as though reading her mind.
She smiled warmly her hands finding places in KITT he didn't even know he had.
She touched his dash again, running her fingers over his monitor and controls, so softly, KITT could barely feel it, the light touch heightening his senses as Bonnie traced her finger tips over his Turbo Boost controls.
Gently, she caressed his wheel, then placed her arms around it and kissed its middle.
"Thank you, KITT," she said, her voice a barely audible whisper.
He seemed to smile gently. "Don't mention it."
Bonnie seemed mesmerised by the red lights on his voice box as she traced them up and down, her touch tender.
"Thank *you*," KITT whispered.
Bonnie kissed his again. "My pleasure."
She swore she could see him smile as she slowly she lay her head upon his wheel.
"You're tired," he said softly, beginning to drive back to FLAG HQ. "I could drive you home, you're definitely not walking."
Bonnie smiled. "Thanks, Kitt, but I'd rather stay with you."
"Thank you. I was hoping you'd say that."
It wasn't long before they returned.
"Rest yourself," KITT said.
The technician nodded and failed to stifle a yawn as she rubbed her hands over her face, then madly scratched KITT's seats.
KITT loved it. "That tickles!" he laughed, lowering his seat, allowing Bonnie to climb into the back.
"Comfortable?" he asked, after she had settled.
"KITT, $5000 a night a penthouse suite couldn't compare."
The Pontiac appeared to smile again. "I'm glad." He adjusted his internal temperature.
Tired, Bonnie lay across KITT's back seat, stroking it gently.
"Sweet dreams," the Trans-Am said, his voice soft.
Bonnie smiled. "You too."
"I only wish I could kiss you goodnight."
"You already have."
"Thank you, Bonnie," KITT said, sincere.
The Technician smiled warmly, then closed her eyes and lay her head down on KITT's welcoming, soft seat.
"I'm tempted to sing a lullaby." KITT said, "but I'm afraid you might run off."
Bonnie chuckled and kissed his seat. "Nothing in the Universe could make me leave you ... Good night, KITT."
"Good night, Bonnie," he said softly.
It wasn't long before she was fast asleep and KITT waited patiently until morning.
Bonnie slept for most of the morning. KITT had not wanted to wake her, one thing she had lacked in the past few months was rest.
She was still asleep when Michael came in. KITT felt a little awkward.
"She got stood up last night," he explained to his friend's quizzical expression.
"Ahh, what a creep."
"Exactly ... Poor girl, after what she's been through in the past few months, she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown."
"We'd better not talk too much," Michael said. "We might wake her."
"It's all right, I've modified my voice externally. She won't hear a thing."
Michael smiled. "Always so considerate, that's my Kitt."
"Of course," the Pontiac said with an apparent smile.
Michael peered inside him, watching Bonnie sleep peacefully and smiled warmly. "Nice to see you taking care of her, Kitt."
"She's had a rough time and she needs to be gentle with herself. She's very sensitive."
"Kitt, you should have been a counsellor."
"Bonnie said the exact same thing."
Michael smiled as he looked again at Bonnie's sleeping form.
"She'll awaken shortly," KITT said, monitoring her. "She's had a good sleep, over 16 hours - well deserved too."
"I'm just going out to get something to eat."
"Hamburgers no doubt."
"How'd you know?"
"Lucky guess."
Michael had been gone for little more than ten minutes before Bonnie began to wake, yawn and stretch.
"Gods, KITT, I don't think I've ever had such a good sleep."
"Glad to oblige."
The FLAG Technician smiled and started to sit up.
"You don't have to get up just yet. I give you permission to sleep in and take the day off, Ms Barstow."
"Thanks, Kitt, you're a sweetie." She stretched leisurely, laid back down and slept for another hour.
Bonnie sat up and stretched and ran a hand through her long, dark hair.
"You look lovely," KITT said.
Bonnie smiled. "That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me first thing in the morning."
She could feel the Pontiac smile. KITT opened his door. Bonnie climbed out of him somewhat reluctant to leave his warm safety, but knew she couldn't stay in him forever.
Gently, she closed KITT's door.
"Thank you," she whispered, gentle and sincere.
"More than a pleasure, Bonnie. I ..."
She smiled as she stroked his hood before leaving to fetch a glass of water, returning shortly after having replenished herself.
Michael had faintly heard the latter half of the conversation and began to wonder. Had anything happened between KITT and Bonnie the previous night? Nah ... it couldn't have ... could it? He was tempted to ask KITT, but decided against it, it wasn't any of his business, but he was very curious, and smiled, although he was left wondering, if anything had happened, although strange as it may sound, he thought, the feeling was quite beautiful.
He waited a few moments before entering the room.
"Hello, Michael," Bonnie said.
"Hi ... Listen, KITT told me about last night... How you got stood up. That guy was such an asshole to do that to you, so don't get too upset about it, all right?"
He gently hugged her.
"Thanks Michael. KITT and I had a long talk last night."
Knight smiled. "That's good. Bonnie, if you need me, I'm here."
"Thank you," she said, realising her friends had always been here.
"Hey, you wanna go and see a movie?"
Bonnie smiled. "Thanks, Michael, but I'm not up to going out today."
"That's fine," he patted her. "Rest as long as you need. I'm sure Devon won't throw a wobbly if you take a few days off."
Bonnie smiled. "Thanks, I think I need them."
Michael sensed Bonnie needed some time alone and so he left, he had a few things he needed to do.
KITT waited until he was well away before he spoke.
"Bonnie ..." KITT began, nervously. "About last night ... You don't regret-"
"Not a moment of it, KITT." She gently stroked his hood.
"My pleasure, M'Lady. Neither do I..."
Part of him never wanted to stop holding her, part of Bonnie wanted to feel his caress until the end of time.
She smiled and kissed his shiny black hood, her hair softly brushing against it.
KITT felt a solitary tear splash onto him, as her fingers traced his hood, so lightly, the Pontiac shivered.
Bonnie kissed the sleek Trans-Am gently and gently ran her fingers over him.
"I never knew how much we needed each other," she whispered, her kiss saying more than words could.
"I'm always here for you Bonnie."
The lady in white smiled warmly. KITT watched her leave, hoping it wouldn't be too long before he could hold and caress his love again.
