FRIEND IN NEED

For Quoth

Data sat behind his desk, alone in his quarters, examining the emotion chip, which he held up with a pair of engineering tweezers. It was repairable, but right now Data honestly didn't know if he ever wanted to install it in himself, in light or rather the darkness of his recent ordeal.

He had done his duty. The Lore/Borg threat had been neutralised. Lore no longer posed as a threat to the Federation. Why then did Data feel so wrong? He played the incident over and over in his mind. He felt he had no choice but to shoot and deactivate his brother, though the shock on his brother's face he would never forget. He felt he had no choice other than to have Lore disassembled. His Brother had proven time and time again he was not to be trusted, posed a formidable threat and as far as Data was concerned, had not repented in any way for his actions. Data did not rule out one day reassembling Lore, but as for now that was completely out of the question, but still something was gnawing away at the Enterprises Second Officer like cosmic rust. He jerked slightly when Spot leapt onto his desk.

"I love you ... Bro...ther..."

Lore's last words rang in Data's head. He was still uncertain of the sincerity. Was he feeling anything? Anything at all? His father said he felt in his own special way. He had been so distracted, he had not even noticed the feline approach.

"Hello, Spot."

Data gently began to stroke her soft orange fur, then his attention returned to the emotion chip. Soon after, the door chime sounded.

Data looked over to the entrance. "Enter." He looked up to see Geordi, as his doors slid apart.

Geordi walked inside, the doors sliding shut after him. "Hi, Data. I wanted to let you know that Doctor Crusher says I'll be able to return to duty soon."

Data looked at his friend, his golden eyes reminiscent of guilt. "I am ... relieved that the injuries I inflicted on you are not permanent. Geordi, I am sor-"

The Chief Engineer smiled warmly. "Data ... that wasn't you. I don't blame you for what happened."

"Thank you Geordi."

"What's that?" Geordi asked, changing the subject, looking at the object in Data's hand.

"This is the chip my Father created for em so that I could experience emotion. I had it removed from Lore's body before he was disassembled." Data put the chip in a silver metal box.

"Does it still work?" Geordi asked, curious, as Spot licked her paw.

"No. I am pleased to say that it was damaged when I was forced to fire on Lore."

Geordi became confused. "Pleased? Data, you've wanted emotions your whole life..."

"Yes, but emotions are responsible for what I did to you. I would never risk letting that happen again. My friendship with you is too important to me." Data pulled out a phaser and set it to vaporise.

Geordi put his hand over the box, rescuing the chip. "Data, I wouldn't be much of a friend if I let you give up on a life long dream, now, would I?" he said, looking at his android friend. He picked up the box. "Maybe someday ... when you're ready ..." He placed the box on the transparent aluminium shelf.

Data looked at Geordi for a long while and eventually nodded, but he did not think he ever wanted to experience emotion if all it would do was hurt.

Geordi smiled understandingly. "Give it time ..."

A pause followed. "Thinking back, I ... cannot help wondering Lore's phaser may not have been set to kill..."

"Data, you had no time to think back then."

"His last words were 'I love you, Brother,' ... do you ... suppose he does?"

"I don't know Data. He's told so many lies ... but who knows? Somehow I think there's a fibre of decency in him somewhere."

Data gave a small smile. "I like to think that too."

A long silence followed.

"Data, I can tell you haven't entirely forgiven yourself for what happened down there ... What you did to me under Lore's control and what you had to do to Lore."

"I know, Geordi, though with you I was not acting under my own wishes and with Lore I had no choice, it still..."

"I understand, Data. You're not the only one who's had to make really tough decisions ... or been forced to do things against your will. Believe me."

Data nodded. "Thank you, Geordi. Having a friend to talk to, at least makes the burden lighter."

Geordi smiled. "That's what I'm here for."

Data stood from behind his desk, crossed over to his sofa for some reason, desiring a softer seat.

"You look like you need some quiet time," Geordi observed and turned to leave.

"Don't go ..." Data's voice sounded like a frightened, lost child.

Geordi turned back to him and even though Lore's emotion link had been severed, even through his visor, Geordi could swear, he saw the pain in his friend's yellow eyes.

He walked toward Data and sat on the sofa, as Spot jumped onto the Android's lap. Data smiled gingerly as he stroked the white orange feline before setting her gently on the floor. Geordi sat next to his mechanical friend. "Do you need to talk?"

"Will you please stay with me a while ... If you are not busy..."

Geordi smiled. "Sure, Data. I'm never to busy to help a friend."

"Thank you," Data whispered.

Geordi was grateful he had spare time on his hands, being ordered off duty for two weeks, until his head cleared, although the emotional trauma would take longer, he didn't say a word to Data – the android felt bad enough, so to speak. Geordi felt well enough to lend his shoulder to Data to lean on, and nothing short of a warp core breech could keep him away, although he felt his friend needed something more. "I'm here for you, Data."

"I know, Geordi and thank you. I am here for you too."

Geordi smiled. "Thanks, Data," he said softly, not realising he and Data were holding each other hands now and drawn closer to one and other.

"You're tense," Geordi said. "Relax your nerve impulses."

Data nodded. "It is difficult in light of-"

"I know," Geordi whispered, feeling for his friend, moving a little closer to him.

Data placed his hand gently on his friend's shoulder, then blinked slowly and looked down, finally understanding, after all these years - why Tasha had wanted him that time - Why she needed him - Her loneliness, desperation ... fears ... Having no one to confide in about her trauma - But could he ask the same of Geordi? Would his friend be repulsed ... offended by the notion?

"Data?" The off duty Chief Engineer looked worried as the android looked up.

Anyone could see the turmoil and longing in his amber eyes. Data held Geordi's hands gently as he moved closer to his friend and placed his arms around him, feeling a tad uncomfortable at first, but Geordi's embrace relieved, assured and warmed him.

Geordi didn't want to patronise his friend by saying something pathetic like 'there, there, Data. Everything's going to be all right ...'

No they wouldn't. At least not for a long while.

"Thank you," Data said softly, as they parted.

Geordi gave an understanding, warm smile. In the moment, Data leaned toward him and kissed his soft lips.

"I am sorry, Geordi," he said, instantly contrite.

To Data's relief his friend did not become angry or look disgusted in the slightest.

"It's all right, Data," he said, after his initial surprise. Geordi smiled warmly again, before leaning toward his pale friend, kissing his lukewarm pale golden lips, their mouths gently caressing each other's. Slowly, the two parted.

Data looked curiously at his friend. "Thank you, Geordi, I am glad you are not offended."

Geordi smiled. "Why would I be? You're my friend."

A wisp of a smile touched Data's face. "It is interesting how therapeutic osculation can be."

Geordi chuckled as he softly stroked Data's cheek. "My thoughts exactly."

The two osculated again, this time the contact more so.

Geordi slid his hand under his friend's black collar, cupping it around Data's smooth neck. Data breathed out and loosened the collar and Geordi followed suit. Data gently began to caress his friend's dark face, amazed at how his tension had started to release. Still marred by his recent ordeal with Lore, being here with Geordi helped him realise he didn't have to go it alone – his friends would always be here for him. Data gently kissed Geordi again. The Chief Engineer reached around Data's back and unzipped the top half of his uniform and Data followed by gently unzipping Geordi's back. The boots and thick socks came off too, pushed off with their feet. The two stood with their uniforms at their waists, kissing again, more passionately as bare chests pressed against one and other. It wasn't long before the two uniforms had dropped entirely to the floor; the human and android heading for the bed chamber of Data's quarters. Data scooped Geordi up in his arms. Geordi could not help but smile at the amusing romance. When they reached the bed, Data put him down and leapt onto the bed, propped his head up on his palm.

Geordi smiled. "Not bad."

Data didn't want to flatten and spoil the moment by saying it was subroutine number 314 - It just seemed appropriate, but this time he wanted to do what came naturally. He ran his fingers through his immaculate hair, dishevelling it somewhat.

Geordi smiled. "Hey, this is a new look for you."

Data smiled seductively. Geordi returned the gesture, wanting nothing more than to be with him. He'd never felt this way before, not toward another male ... He was grateful Data didn't have any such biases. Somehow they sensed this contact would strengthen the bond they forged over seven years ago. Geordi walked around the bed and lay next to Data. The android turned to face him and kissed him gently. "Thank you," he whispered, sincere.

"It's my pleasure," Geordi said softly, as they embraced horizontally. Again their mouths twined, though this time their hands began to explore. Rich brown on gold, pale gold on chocolate.

Geordi and Data resumed a sitting position as Geordi gently clasped Data's slender golden waist. He'd never seen his friend this way before. Sure he'd seen him naked once or twice when he'd had to repair him, but he'd never seen him this way before. Geordi breathed in as he looked at his friend's body in this new light. Data gently rested his hands on his friend's shoulders and the golden robot gently pulled Geordi toward him. Geordi slid his hands around Data's waist once more, to his smooth, immaculate back. Gods, he was perfect! Geordi thought about Lore for a moment - He would be this perfect too - Physically - His emotions, though in turmoil - Geordi felt a flash of pity for Data's sibling, despite what Lore had done. The chocolate skinned human smiled as Data's gentle touch brought him back to the present moment as the android kissed him again.

He and Geordi held each other tightly, Data careful to exert the right amount of pressure. He vowed never to hurt Geordi again.

Geordi La Forge let Data hold him, their bodies pressing against one and other. Data loosened his hold a little and rested his chin on his friend's shoulder, feeling his friendship with the young Engineer deepen, as his warm, soft mechanical hand gently explored Geordi's body. La Forge slowed his breathing, feeling safe in the hands of his best friend, as his own hands began to caress and explore Data, in a way he never had before ... Sensually...

Data slid his hands through Geordi's thick top afro, the Engineer smiling warmly as he responded in kind, dishevelling Data's darkish hair a little more. The android shook his head, a wisp of hair falling over the side of his face as though it had a life of its own. Geordi smiled. He'd never quite seen his friend like this before - and he liked it - He was a tad embarrassed to admit how aroused he was becoming.

Geordi removed his visor and placed it on Data's bedside compartment. He didn't need to see to feel the moment and sighed softly as he felt Data caress his face. Geordi saw nothing but blackness, though it was almost if he could see what he was feeling. Here with Data, he did not see the darkness. Unable to control himself, Geordi grabbed Data and kissed him vigorously, Data responding in kind, passion suddenly flaring up, like a white space squall.

After a short while, Data's golden hand, slid down Geordi's chest, over his stomach and abdomen, gently brushing his pubes, then the golden hand curled around his waist. Geordi let out a subtle gasp of delight to Data's touch, as his hand moved over Data's flat gold stomach, moving slowly down, to touch the top of his golden penis. Data took in a breath. It felt very different to the time he was with Tasha - Both times wonderful. Geordi's hands wove in and out of Data's patch of velvet curls as Data's hands responded in kind, through Geordi's jet black forest. He felt Data's hand around his slowly clasp around his thick chocolate bar, and could not hold back a sharp gasp of pleasure, as the dark shard stood to attention. Data smiled, his touch having the desired effect, as Geordi responded in kind, caressing Data's gentle golden sabre.

Data looked into Geordi's dark eyes as he held him, and Geordi nodded, his answer to Data's silent question. The golden humanoid turned his friend around and pressed against him, his now erect golden rod sliding into the dark, mysterious crevice.

Geordi gasped inward at the sudden rush of pleasure as Data entered him. The dark Engineer sighed as the golden android began to rock back and forth gently. It was a new sensation for Data as well. He gently held Geordi, feeling himself inside his friend. Data's thrusts became more vibrant, though careful not to hurt Geordi, and knew from his experience with Tasha, Geordi's gasp indicated delight and pleasure to which Data smiled. He was having the desired effect and in his own way felt a special sense of pleasure.

In a flash, they swapped. Geordi entered Data, swift as wind, parting the welcoming golden crevice, closing his eyes as he held Data's pale opalescent shoulders and breathed out. Never before had he felt this way - This form of intimacy, completely new to both him and Data, though just as sensual, meaningful and enjoyable as Geordi gently rocked back and forth inside Data.

The android lifted his head and closed his yellow eyes, breathing slowly, feeling safe with Geordi as though no one could hurt him ever again. He thought briefly of Lore and felt angry in his own way at his Brother's violation - but then of his Twin's past. He said he had needed Data. From what Data ascertained down on the Borg planet, Lore had tried to put his past animosity and jealousy toward his brother behind him, but he'd gone about it the wrong way - Data hoped there would come a day where he could reassemble and repair Lore, but in the light of Lore's recent ordeal, Data knew that day wouldn't be any time too soon. He brought himself back to the present, feeling Geordi's warmth inside him and took in a sharp breath as the Chief Engineer's thrusts became more intense.

Geordi held Data as he exited. The android turned to face him and smiled as he embraced his dark skinned friend.

"Thank you, Geordi," he whispered, sincere.

"My pleasure," La Forge purred in his friend's audio sensor, then kissed Data's ear and they softly sewed kisses all over their soft dark and subtly sparkling golden faces. Data embraced his loving friend again.

When they parted, Geordi saw the pain in his friend's eyes, and it pained him, Data's inner pain no different to him than any other life form's. Geordi gently stroked his friend's face and spoke softly. "What is it, Data?"

Data looked into his friend's velvet brown eyes. "Geordi ... Please do not tell me "...It never happened."

The dark human embraced his friend and kissed him gently. "It did."

Data placed his arms around his friend, his warm sigh and relieved smile speaking words the android did not have to say.
