Usually Daiken stories/pictures/etc feature a confident and caring Dai who takes a wounded ken under his wings. Often authors use the Ken that's left after the Kaizer is gone and focus on his sensitive, hurt side. That is, the part of Ken that was hidden when his brother died. This Ken is uncertain of himself and where he stands in the world. Daisuke's trust, friendliness, and general sex-appeal attract a shy Ken into a Daiken pairing.
Kensuke is often used interchangably with Daiken since both of the boys are capable of the two extremes of being seme or uke.
