girls: Daisuke is not popular with girls. his big crush Hikari constantly blows him off, Miyako teases and taunts him, and Mimi is less than impressed with him.
boys: Dai does a little better with the menfolk. He looks up to Taichi and is accepted by both Tai and Yamato. Koushiro regards Dai with a sort of mute bemusement. Takeru and Iori, however, don't trust or believe in Dai's abilities.
family: The Motomiya's are a strange bunch and generally seem to accept Dai. They joke about his lack of educational development and encourage him to do soccer. Jun teases Daisuke (as all older sisters do) but seems to connect with him as she acts just like him much of the time.
digimon: Vmon loves Daisuke. Dai also fairs well with younger Digimon; he teaches them how to play soccer. When Dai does get in trouble, he usually survives a fight and gets some laughs out of his antics.

So who exactly is Daisuke? Is he a naiively happy little boy, or is he an angst filled and bitter teenager? Well, as I see it, he's both.
