PERFORMANCE
It's not much, but its a start.
I think its safe to say that if you're here then you want to go faster. Stock, the 3100 Z26 does about a 16.2 in the 1/4 mile, give or take a tenth or two of a second. I'm not possitive yet but I'm running about a 15.3, give or take a couple tenths of a second. I say 15.3 because this wekend i raced and beat a friend who pulled a 15.5 in the 1/4. Just lowering my 1/4 mile time one second took a decent amount of money. Roughly, I would say about $800 - $900. Thats all bolt on stuff, some machined stuff, and some time on my part for installation/design. It takes money and knowlege to go fast.... or just money, buy a Corvette.
One thing to remember is that whatever a manufaturer tells you that a part increases your power by is always less than they say. A K&N cone filter does not add 8hp. Boring out your throttle body all together doesn't even do that.
Things I don't recommend buying:
Tornado Air Spiral - $70 - this simply does not work. It claims that buy spinning the air as it goes into the intake it will create more power. I noticed no difference with this product. All it is is sheet metal bent like a fan blade. Its very easy to make your own for about $4, if that, if you wanted to try it out.
B&M Shift Kit - $50 - I bought this and I didn't notice anything remotely worth the money. The shifting was different, but i couldn't tell if it was better or worse. Either way i just took it off instead of risking my transmission.
My Mods:
Fastchip Stage II Computer (programmed to run with bored out throttle body)
160 thermostat
Ram Air (I can call it that because its more effective than anything put on any factory car deemed as having ram air)
catco universal 2 1/4" catalytic converter
Cherry bomb - then the exhaust just dumps out the side (less bends = better flow; less piping = less weight)
Accel coil packs
Magnecore 8mm wires
56mm throttle body
56mm+ intake plenum bore (had to be done to accomodate 56mm throttle properly)
Remington 205/55 HR16 tires
(major engine work, supercharger, and headers are the ultimate goals; the original block will be used in the final product; no NOS and no turbo will ever be put on this car)
