page_11.jpg (77685 bytes) The Gingerbread Man ran faster and faster. He

came to a field of mowers.

"Wait, Wait" said the mowers.

"We wish to eat you."

The little Gingerbread Man laughed and said:

"I ran away from a little old woman, a little old man, a cow, a horse, a barn full of

farmers, and I can run away from you, I can, I can."

The mowers began to chase the Gingerbread Man. When he saw he was ahead of the mowers

he shouted:

"Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man."

By this time the Gingerbread Man was very proud. He did not think anyone could catch him.
