Splitting an MPEG to fit on a CD

Thanks to Livia for this tip!

Ever had an .mpeg sitting on your computer that was just too big to burn to CD and it would take till 3001 to convert to VCD? Just got looking and think i have figured out a way of chopping these monster files in half that works and only takes about 2 mins.

You need Stuffit Deluxe and ResEdit (or other filtype/creator changer such as Snitch, MoreFileInfo, FileBuddy, and a number of others).

Go into Stuffit preferences and turn compression OFF!

Then choose SEGMENT and select a custom size that you want to break the files into (figure something that will chop the file into 2 pieces).

Then select your file and hit save. It will creat to files "file.mpeg.1" and "file.mpeg.2" or whatever.

Now, open ResEdit, and change the Type to MPEG and the Creator to TVOD.

Save files with this new info...and PRESTO!!!! Now you have 2 movies that are will play correctly in QT and are now burnable in size.
