READ CAREFULLY! - Switch From NTSC to PAL: DON'T SWITCH FROM NTSC TO PAL UNLESS YOU HAVE A PAL TV AND A PAL PLAYSTATION! If you switch from NTSC to PAL you might damage your game-enhancer! If you live in the USA you DO NOT want to switch from NTSC to PAL for ANY reason! If you live in the USA YOU DO NOT HAVE A PAL TV! Only if you have a PAL TV and PAL Playstation and live OUTSIDE of the USA do you want to do the following - Press L1, select and then press "O" to select.

   Normal Start:

Game-Enhancer Side Switch in the Down position - This Starts normal games with no codes & bypasses the white and black screens.

   Start Game with Code:

This will load the game using the codes you have selected. The currently selected cheat title appears at the bottom of the menu.

   Select Cheat Code:

This will bring you to a list of cheat codes that are currently installed on your Game Enhancer. Use your controller to move up and down the list. When you find the game you want press the "O" button to select it. This will bring you to a list of available cheat codes for that particular game. Use your controller to move up and down the list. When you find the code you want to enable just press the "O" button. A + symbol will appear next to the code to show that it has been selected. You may select as many cheat codes as you like. To deselect a cheat code just press the "O" button. You can obtain good cheat codes from the links page at www.angelfire.com/super/modking Note: some cheat codes do not work on all versions of some games. If a code(s) does not work, find some known working codes and replace the non-working codes with these by using the Add a Code instructions or edit the non-working codes.

   Add a Code:

Before adding new codes with your controller you must DELETE codes because the game enhancer is shipped with the maximum amount of codes in memory. There are code's coming out for new games all the time. You can use "action replay", "game buster" and most "game shark" codes found on the Internet and in magazines. First go into SELECT CHEAT CODE and go to NEW GAME and Press "O". Go through the steps (enter name, master code - not necessary, type of code, the actual code) hit "X" each time to save. When entering game titles the title must end with "-USA" for USA games, "-JAP" for Japanese titles and "-UK" for European titles. Some of the cheat codes are made for Japanese games and you may want to delete them.

   Delete a Code:

Highlight any code you wish to delete and the "triangle" key, Then hit "X" to confirm the delete.

   Memory Manager:

This section works essentially the same way as the PlayStation's built-in Memory Card Manager, but is faster and easier to navigate.

1. COPY - Copy a single block
2. COPY ALL - Copy the entire memory card
3. DEL - Erase a single block from a card - Yes/No - Defaults to No
4. DEL ALL - Erase the entire memory card - Yes/No - Defaults to No
5. EXIT - Exit the memory manager

   V-Ram Image Viewer:

This will view the contents of the PlayStation's VRAM at the time RESET was pressed.

   Directional Pad - Pan Around:

L1 - Increase horizontal resolution
R1 - Decrease horizontal resolution
L2 - Toggle vertical resolution (240/480)
R2 - Toggle bit depths (16/24)
O  -  Fast Pan (when used in combination with directional pad)
Triangle - Move status window
X - Exit

   CD-ROM Viewer Plus (a file explorer) :

This lets you view the computer files of the game that is in the Playstation. You can find and start movie and sound files.

   Playing Game Movies & Music:

STR / MOV - Streaming Movie (Game Cinema)

XA / XA1 - PlayStation Audio (Game Music)

EXE - Executable File

Use your controller to move to the file you wish to view. Once you select the file you will see a screen showing you it's contents. You can then choose what you want to play by pressing the "O" button. The "Triangle" button will analyze the currently selected file.

Playing Backup (CD-R copies) and Import Games:

1.) Setup your playstation to "think" the door is always closed by inserting the custom manufactured spring given with the Game-Enhancer. You will only have to do this once.

            Spring keeps door switch closed

2.) Insert any US game or the "demo disk" (make sure the game enhancer button is in the up position) and turn your Play Station on or press the reset button. When the disc STOPS spinning after 2 or 3 seconds, remove the disc and then insert the backup/import you wish to load. Select START GAME or START GAME WITH CODES to load. Your backup/import will now play!

That's it! All your games should load up perfect!

Playing Multi-Disk Import and Backup Games:

There are 2 ways to boot up the second CD-R or import disk.

You can save game information from the end of disk one onto your memory card and then boot up disk two from the memory card (recommended way). Or if you don't have a memory card or a game that saves at the end of disk one you will have to do the following: When prompted for the 2nd disk remove Import or Backup disk 1 and insert the demo disk (any black bottom disk will do fine but the demo disk works the best) , decompress the spring for a second and then uncompress the spring so the playstation "thinks" that you opened the door for disk 2, press the start button, allow the demo disk to spin for about 1 second then remove the spinning disk and replace it with the import disk 2 or CD-R disk 2. The second disk will boot up perfectly! If it does not work on the first attempt try again as it is very easy to miss a step.

If you have problems booting up your CD-R disks or import games then the problem could be:

A. You are not backing up your disks correctly. We suggest using CD-R WIN for backing up your disks. Goldenhawk.com

B. Your playstation has an old or worn lens, which is having problems reading CD-R media. This often happens when using Gold, Yellow, Silver and light green media (dark green is ok). We suggest using Blue media by TDK or Verbatim or black bottom CD-R disks.

C. Try using a different black disk to boot up the game as some black disks don't make good bootup disks. The Demo disk included with some playstations should work with every game however if you have any troubles please try another black disk as the boot disk.

NOTE: If you have already switched your enhancer into PAL mode you will not be able to switch back to NTSC on a model 1001 playstation. You will have to plug your enhancer into a model 5501, 7001 or 7501 to switch back to NTSC by pressing L1, then select O.
