To-Ya was created by a Japanese Company whose project was to debut a Korean group into Japan. Kim Ji Hye, aka Ruu, became the first member and "leader" of To-Ya as she was becoming popular as an actress. Auditions were held for the next member of To-ya, one who would have a unique voice; there came Ahn Jin Kyung, aka Ann. Though she was only 16 at the time, her vocal ability was high and full of energy. The first two members flew to Japan to prepare for their debut, including learning Japanese, vocal lessons, and working out for endurance. Time flew by as auditions in Seoul for the last member seemed unsuccessful. Then in April 2000, Ryu Eun Joo, aka Un-ju, appeared. She was already fluent in Japanese and had been modeling for the magazine, "Kawaii". She appered to be perfect for the last spot. On November 1, 2000, the three members officially became To-Ya.

Like before, it was hard to find their information because everything was foreign, but with the help of Yahoo search, links, and Alta Vista translations, naresome's To-Ya page is finally up. The first time I ever heard one of their songs was when one of my friends burned me this cd of some kpop music videos. I listened to their song, "Look", and I immediately became hooked. The song has this Jamaican-rapping-like voice and had this "unique" background music, with a lot of puppets ^_^. I really liked the song! One of the girls, I wasn't sure who it was, had this really amazing and powerful voice, like one filled with urgency. So I gave their other songs a try. And then, like other artists, I became an instant fan. They debuted in Japan and South Korea and are gaining great popularity. Listen to their songs, especially, "Look"; it's an awesome song!
