You Would Too- [Part 3]

A lot of people started getting sick in early December. The fuckers had turned to chemical warfare. This wasn’t just some kind of anthrax or black plague shit. This was fucking playing god. Or Satan. Or some other sadistic, powerful fucker. The street name for it was Cinderella. It’s cause when you got sick, your skin got pale, and then grayish. Then it started drying out and flaking off. This would happen over the course of about three days. Then eventually your organs turn to ash too, and you die. It was a fuck to watch. The first victims started showing up in New York, Pittsburgh, Maryland . All the people who had been within 20 miles of the fallout from the plane crashes started turning gray and dropping dead. It had a long gestation period. Then the bad shit would go down.

Nathan caught Cinderella first, around mid December. Before then, everything, including the attacks, had been some weird occurrence that had no real effect on us other than a few cancelled classes. Orgasmic and I were really the only ones who were upset about it, and I don’t think either of us even cried, not in front of anyone anyway. We had all heard about a few isolated incidents of Cinderella, and heard that it spread fast. It was scary, but it wasn’t around us, so we could think of it as some sort of distant threat that would never actually happen to us, or anyone we knew. But Nathan got sick. He was buried in Arlington, where his parents lived. I cried a lot, we all did, he was the first human I personally knew who died. He was only a few years older than me. Actually watching someone the same age as you die forces you to realize that you are no longer a child anymore, and nothing will protect you again, no matter what age you are. The rest of us were tested for Cinderella, and kept in quarantine for a week or so. After that, Orgasmic split. There hadn’t been any reports of Cinderella in Kansas, and his family was terrified he would get sick, so they flew him home. Rach__l, Robert and I went back to life as much as normal as we could. A week after we got out of quarantine, Rach__l got sick. We brought her to the hospital, and she lasted four days before she went too. It hit Robert hard. He had been closer to Rach__l and Nathan that I had been. Robert just stopped caring about everything. That’s why he didn’t leave. The school stayed open because really, there wasn’t much else it could do. I lived 60 miles away, so moving wouldn’t do any good for me either way.

Around New Year’s, or a little bit around there, North America turned into hell. The disease had already taken it’s hold, and a quarter of the population was gone, or on their way out. I’m not talking about plague, or at least not that first stage. I’m talking about what happened to all the plague victims afterward.
