Each day more and more people began showing up; also, more and more donations (not money…things!) One guy donated 2 Russian Chess Sets and some used decks of cards. Another guy donated a wonderful set of Russian Chess pieces. Another guy donated 4 containers of blue and white soda bottle tops (poor man’s checkers).
We are open for ‘outdoors chess, etc.’ from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day of the week. If it’s too cold we can always make arrangements on the inside! But, these guys are used to and seem to prefer playing on the outside! They appreciate the decent tables, comfortable chairs, and free use of a clean bathroom (with toilet paper and soap).
Wednesday 2/18/04 we had prayer meeting inside, while chess was going on outside!
The holocaust survivors want to use the building for their every other month meetings (which I think should be held each month).
We may start up an AA meeting type thing, sometime down the road.
The Russian congregation may begin using the place for their services, starting around July.
The Dimona Chess Team rematch will take place on our turf sometime this month!
P.S. We are like physicians working out of a community clinic. We had a walk-in the other day, a lady crying, overwhelmed with grief and despair. R. ministered to her and she left feeling warm and fuzzy with a book under her arm.
