Dear Sir Mayor of Arad,
Your response to the plight of the
Christian/Messianic citizens of your city has less to do with your "power...and...ability"
than with your personal lack of interest and desire to serve the cause of
those needing protection under your care. Even if you do not agree
to the beliefs of those being harassed and having their property damaged,
nonetheless these "strangers" have demonstrated their own
allegiance to the city you represent and to the State of Israel.
When pogroms began in Russian in the 19th
century; when the Nazis began pointing out who and where the Jews were,
no doubt it all began "legally", and
left to the police -- maybe -- to deal with any
"law-breaking". When, of course, nothing was really done,
and when those in authority, moral and
political, showed a lack of interest and concern, we all know what
happened. If you do not look a little deeper into your own
motivations and attitude, Dr. Brill, you will have no moral ground to
exercise whatever power you believe belongs to "the
municipality".
Sorry about that.
Respectfully,
Howard Bass
