The local police hesitate to get involved with our claims against the Haredim. I guess it would be similar to a traffic cop in the U.S. issuing a speeding ticket to his city’s mayor, his police chief, or a local mafia kingpin…not wise if you want to keep your job.
The Haredim have power over jobs, promotions, citizenship, deportations, health care, marriages, burials, education, etc, etc, etc. They also can put curses on you and your family!
I do believe some of the police want to help but are afraid of the consequences. As a result of this gross lack of law enforcement the situation here has escalated. And with so many Believers watching worldwide, Arad’s mayor and police department are finding themselves in a hot spot. They are afraid to act and afraid not to!
Trying to alleviate some of the pressure off the locals, we decided to utilize the District Court in Beersheva in obtaining restraining orders against certain individuals. They in turn told us we needed names, addresses, and ID numbers.
But to our surprise, the local police refused to cooperate with us, even when we are trying to help them. They absolutely refuse to give us any names, even when restraining orders are placed against me, they refuse to give me the names of the people I’m suppose to stay away from.
Looks like we’re getting the old runaround!
