It’s somewhat ironic that this fire started just before midnight and the name of our Messianic newspaper is titled ‘A minute before midnight’. Anyhow we arrived at the scene around 12:15 and began snapping pictures along side a HaTzvi news photographer. The electricity was still alive, water and broken glass was all over the place, and it was very dark so we took only a few pictures, deciding to continue in the morning.
Wow, the HaTzvi news comes out on Thursday evenings and this was Thursday in the wee hours, yet we made front page! Man, they put that story together so fast that I’m told that it’s laced with typos and spelling errors.
Another very ironic occurrence: in the August 2nd edition of the Ma Koray (newspaper) it mentions something about the Haredim (it’s 2nd attempt) starting a chess club. This time they will be providing free lunch, a soda, coffee, and restroom facilities, beginning today!
Hmmm, our chess club burns down during the night and theirs open in the morning. The police didn’t want to add this to his report because he didn’t see any relevance.
They do know that the fire was arson. Other than that, they don’t have any clues or suspects.
