Chief of Police, Moshe Ivgi
Arad
26.9.2005
Dear Sir,
I wish to express my appreciation of your recent
handling of the situation in which a group of Messianic believers came under
attack. I understand the situation had
escalated and the bus they were in was in danger of being overturned. Some of these people are known to me through
their families and I was concerned for their safety.
Thanks are due also to the officers whose actions
ensured the safety of Eddie and Lura Beckford and those at the restaurant where
a meal is offered to the poor and homeless.
In a previous fax I expressed my concern that the
situation was getting out of hand and I am relieved to learn that there has
been definite improvement.
I urge you to continue with this good work. I love Israel and have a keen interest that
justice and righteousness will be upheld, especially concerning loyal Jewish
Israeli citizens, though their belief may be different from others. They serve in the IDF and avoid being a
financial burden to the state. Many of
them, like Polly Sigulim and Eddie and Lura Beckford,
are involved in important social work which is a help to the entire community.
Unfortunately some of the women in Arad have suffered
frequent verbal abuse: they are
subjected to screaming insults and blasphemous remarks and are called ‘whores’
and ‘prostitutes’ in front of their children, especially known to me are Rebekkah Frei and Deborah Figueras. Children
are often intimidated and risk being traumatized by such types of behaviour. Such behaviour is unacceptable.
Therefore I ask that you officers be made aware that these women are
being insulted and abused in this way and take whatever action is necessary.
Thank you once again for your on-going battle against
crime and all forms of violence.
