Lot, his wife, and two daughters had to leave Sodom and Gomorrah in a hurry because G-d was ready to destroy these wicked cities. They were instructed by an angel "not to look back" (Gen 19:15-17). For whatever reason, Lot's wife looked back, and turned into a pillar of salt (Gen 19:26). In the vicinity not far from where Sodom and Gomorrah once stood, stands a pillar of salt that resembles a woman. Legend has it that this is Lot's Wife!
