The Soup Kitchen!
We opened The Storefront on February 15, 2004 providing free tea and coffee from day one. Shortly after, we began also providing free water and snacks such as: matza, cookies, buns, cakes, and an assortment of candies. What we intended as snacks soon turned out to be the ‘meal of the day’ for others.

One time, we administered aid to a drunken homeless person, letting him wash up in our bathroom, and feeding him soup; the kind to which you just add hot water. We found that the soup is a "must" to keep on hand, especially during the winter months.

In the past, if you wanted to find a Believer in Arad you had to know someone who knew someone, who knew someone. But, now people are being directed to the Chess Club. This is the only visual evidence of Believers in Arad. No Church buildings, etc.

People down on their luck, with no place to turn, in a state of hopelessness and despair, suicidal, alcoholics, and drug addicts are miraculously finding their way, some being brought by family and friends to the Storefront.

I’m sort of new at all this Soup Kitchen stuff and didn’t see all this coming! Duh! There is definitely a need!

Bottom-line: We have people ready to cook! We have people ready to serve! And we have people ready to eat! (The poor will be with us always)

But we need food: canned goods, dry goods, vegetables, fruits or whatever!

Anyone with a Food Bank Ministry in Israel and would like to help with the goods can contact us by e-mail, phone, or drop-in at the Storefront. Others may wish to make a money donation toward the cause. Regardless, we solicit all your prayers.

If you're led to make a money contribution, please make your check out to:

If you prefer, you may use your credit card or make a bank-to-bank transfer with PayPal (a small administrative fee will be deducted by Paypal).

P.S. Giving can be contagious! Once a guy brought a box of cookies and laid them on the table. Another time a guy brought in some Russian candies wrapped in green paper with pictures of little pigs on them (smile).
