Too Easy for Pat's

"Worse than Kilkenny last season" was the general consensus in the stand of the current state of football at Galway United. On the evidence of this latest visit to Terryland Park and on their 3-0 defeat at Richmond on the first day of the season Galway are heading in only one direction, down.

Within half an hour, Pat Dolan's team were three goals to the good and cruising against bottom of the table Galway. By half-time it was 4-0 as Dave Connell's men found themselves completely out of their depth against the only unbeaten away side in the Premier Division.

Ugandan international Charles Mbabazi Livingstone started after eight minutes in his now trademark style with a brilliant solo effort. He ran on to a Paul Marney pass down the right before hitting an unstoppable strike low into the bottom left corner. Incredibly his 6th goal of the season and the fourth game in a row that the striker has found the target. The Ugandan is undoubtedly the Premier's greatest striker of a ball from play with no-one in the league coming close to matching his current form.

Galway keeper Mark Cobey, whose poor handling led to the Saints support christening him "Stevie Wonder" did well to tip over a Colm Foley header after 21 minutes but from the resultant corner by Martin Russell, centre-half Darragh Maguire looped a fine header into the top right corner.

Foley himself, not to be outdone by his defensive partner added the third after 28 minutes when he glanced another Martin Russell corner on the right into the top left corner. It was all too easy as Galway offered no resistance.

Five minutes from half-time Cobey let a Gavin Doyle effort from the edge of the box slip through his hands for one of the softest goals ever conceded. Galway were spared more humiliation after the break as the Saints failed to capitalise on their dominant position and dominance in possession. Galway fans tried to muster a half-hearted rendition of "Sack the Board" but you get the sense that things are broken beyond repair at Galway United.
