House Bunnies
Unknown to some people, rabbits can live in the house and live happily just as a cat or dog would. Although, there are some things you need to remember before you bring bunny in.
A few things you should know!
- Be aware of other pets, cats are territorial but it depends on the cat
- Bunny proof your home, hide electrical wires and ensure that bunny cannot escape to rooms that are out of bounds
- Litter train him/her just like you would with a cat using a litter tray
- Make sure you are housing the right breed, Netherlands are no good as house pets as they are small enough to hide behind furniture and appliances
- Lop rabbits, especially the french Lop make excellent house rabbits
- House bunnies can be much more affectionate as they are in constant contact with humans, this can be very rewarding
- House rabbits get much more exercise than outdoor rabbit so it can be a good thing
- Neutered bunnies are best kept indoors because rabbits can be territorial, this is recommened if you want to house 2 rabbits together
- Neutering also stops uncastrated males spraying, spraying occurs whether bunny is house trained or not.
